Presencia serves the children of immigrants through tutoring leadership development job opportunities and community care
Presencia teaches the children of immigrants to lead with love through tutoring, leadership development, and job opportunities. We buid community and provide life-changing care in our tutoring program, where students receive personal homework help, career speakers, ands and crafts, field trips, and nutritious meaals. 50 students are currently registered for our tutoring work. Students who graduate from our tutoring program join our leadership team, where they have opportunities to serve the younger students, develop skills through trainings, weekly meetings, and retreats. 12 students are currently developing leadership through participation on this team.
Our high school and college-aged students are trained, equipped, and paid through our job opportunities. Six young leaders currently serve on our tutoring staff, where they begin building their resumes, gain a range of work experiences, develop as professionals, and earn income for themselves and their families.
Presencia has implemented a Good Neighbor Fund to provide limited emergency assistance for families already in our program. This assistance is given primarily as rent payments and grocery gift cards. In 2020 we experienced increased need among our program partcipants due to financial hardship caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
