The annual Decatur Book Festival is a community event open to the public and supported by cash contributions from the corporate community and others as well as in-kind donations. It is one of the largest Book Festivals in the United States and brings authors from around the country. During 2020, the festival shifted to online programming, providing free virtual events for over 10k attendees who tuned in from throughout the southeast, across the country, and from 82 other countries.
