Homeless shelter for abused women and children of the international community
Emergency Shelter for Battered Women - This program assists victims of domestic violence and the community in coping with these crimes; to help medical personnel in delivery of health care needed by the victims; to provide counseling toward healing the emotional trauma experienced; to provide a safe environment to victims of domestic violence; and to educate the general public on domestic violence and its prevention. The agency served 1,356 outreach clients and 84 shelter residents. This included counseling, shelter, food, clothing, financial aid, support groups, and legal advocacy. 231 children participated in children's activities including afterschool tutoring, field trips, basic computer training and age-appropriate programs. Shelter residents and victims were housed in hotels for 4,260 bed nights due to a lack of shelter space. 21,915 meals were prepared and served in-house. Agency personnel made 17 Community Presentations; obtained 203 Temporary Protective Orders; 3 survivors completed cosometology school. 87% of victims served did not return to the abuser upon successful exit from the program.
