The organization's mission is to put Gods love into action through educational and discipleship programs to disadvantaged children, youth and adults in community-based centers in partnership with individuals, churches and organizations.
For the year ended July 31, 2020 Cross-Cultural Ministries, Inc. operated the following programs:From August 12, 2019 through March 13, 2020, the following programs were available:--Afterschool homework assistance and tutoring was available 4 days a weekKindergarten through middle school students received assistance in completing their homework and additional tutoring in math and reading. We served an average of 101 students a day.Individual evening tutoring was offered to students needing additional instruction; 12 students received tutoring during the school year.Additional afternoon tutoring in reading, phonics and vocabulary was held 2 times a week for 24 students.--Classes for non-English speakers to learn to speak, converse, read and write in English were offered 3 days a week. Served an average of 19 students.--A Pre-K class met four mornings a week during the school year to instruct the children in English and a pre-K curriculum to prepare them to enter Kindergarten. Enrollment was for 20 students.--Bible clubs were held every Thursday and Friday. These were for the Kindergarten and elementary children to learn about the Bible and the Christian faith. They were held separate from the homework assistance times. Average attendance was 60 for the 2 days.-- Middle school clubs for girls provided weekly activities and discussion of current issues with Biblical answers. Average attendance for the girls was 12 and for the boys 10.From March 16 through July 31, 2020, the following programs were started and ended:--Food collection and distribution to the community:Food was received from individuals, churches, and businesses. The food was sorted, bagged and distributed to families in the area. Funds were received to purchase food, oil, sugar, flour, produce and eggs to add to the canned goods and rice for distribution.-- Benevolence Funds were received to assist families with rent and utilities.--Reading ProgramThe reading program was held from June 22nd through July 16th. Students in grades 1st through 5th were selected to participate based on need for tutoring. There were 30 students, 11 volunteers and 2 staff participating.--Collection and distribution of school supplies:School supplies were received from individuals, churches and organizations.Supplies were sorted and placed into donated book bags for distribution.Distribution of school supplies was held on Saturday, August 1st, to the school children in the surrounding area.
