Organizations Filed Purposes: THE GEORGIA UNITED CREDIT UNION FOUNDATION'S MISSION IS TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR CHILDREN AND FAMILIES IN THE COMMUNITITES SERVED BY GEORGIA UNITED CREDIT UNION. THIS MISSION IS PERFORMED BY SUPPORTING SCHOOOLS AND PROGRAMS THAT ADVANCE FINANCIAL LITERACY.

FOCUSED ON THE LIVES OF FAMILIES IN THE COMMUNITIES SERVED BY GEORGIA UNITED CREDIT UNION. THIS IS DONE THROUGH SUPPORTING PROGRAMS THAT ADVANCE EDUCATION AND FINANCIAL LITERACY.

SCHOOL CRASHERS IS A PROGRAM THAT PARTNERS WITH GEORGIA UNITED CREDIT UNION TO OFFER GEORGIA SCHOOLS A MAKEOVER WHICH GENERALLY INCLUDES BEAUTIFICATION OF OUTSIDE AND INSIDE. IT MAY INCLUDE PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT, BENCHES, INTERIOR FURNITURE AND CARPETING. IT ALSO INCLUDES LANDSCAPE MATERIALS AND PAINT. SCHOOLS ARE NOMINATED FOR CONTENTION AND A GROUP OF GEORGIA UNITED CREDIT UNION EMPLOYEES AND MEMBERS OF THE FOUNDATION TEAM WILL MAKE THE FINAL SELECTIONS BASED ON THE NEED AND THE COMPLETENESS OF THE APPLICATION. THERE IS GENERALLY ONE GRAND PRIZE WINNER AND TWO RUNNER UP PRIZES. IN ADDITION A FEW INDIVIDUAL WINNERS MAY RECIEVE NEW CARPET OR FURNITURE ON A SMALLER SCALE. IN 2019, A TOTAL OF 10 SCHOOLS RECEIVED MAKEOVERS.

JUNIOR ACHEIVEMENT IS A PARTNERSHIP THAT WAS STARTED BY GEORGIA UNITED CREDIT UNION AND HAS EXPANDED OVER THE LAST SEVERAL YEARS. THE FOUNDATION PROVIDES MAJOR GRANTS TO THE ATLANTA, GWINNET COUNTY AND FORSYTH CHAPTERS OF JUNIOR ACHEIVMENT. THE GRANTS HELP FUND THEIR PROGRAMS TO EDUCATE MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS ABOUT WORKFORCE READINESS, ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND FINANCIAL LITERACY THROUGH AN EXPERIMENTAL LEARNING ENVIRONMENT. IT ALSO INCLUDES OVER 125 VOLUNTEERS FROM GEORGIA UNITED CREDIT UNION TO INSIST IN GUIDING STUDENTS THROUGH FINANCIAL SIMULATIONS AT JA DISCOVERY CENTERS.

VITA - VOLUNTEER INCOME TAX ASSISTSANCE IS A PROGRAM DONE IN COOPERATION WITH THE UGA ATHENS AND DALTON STATE UNIVERSITY TO PROVIDE INCOME TAX ASSISTANCE TO LOW AND MODERATE INCOME FAMILIES. THE PROGRAM IS MANAGED BY THE UNIVERSITIES WHICH US STUDENTS TO PROVIDE THE ASSISTANCE. THE FOUNDATION PROVIDES A SPONSORSHIP TO PAY FOR OVERHEAD (I.E SOFTWARE, SUPPLIES, ETC.) AND THE CEDIT UNION PROVIDES THE SPACE AT ITS BRANCHES ALONG WITH COMPUTER EQUIPMENT.
