THE ORGANIZATION SEEKS TO ENHANCE THE SKILLS, ABILITIES, HEALTH AND OVERALL CHARACTER OF YOUTH LIVING IN ECONOMICALLY IMPOVERISHED NEIGHBORHOODS, SUCH THAT THEY WILL HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO LIVE FULFILLING AND ENRICHED LIVES
ELIZABETH CANTY COMMUNITY STUDY HALL: THE NEIGHBORHOOD AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM PROVIDED HOMEWORK ASSISTANCE, READING AND MATHEMATICS REMEDIATION, ONE ON ONE INSTRUCTION, TECHNOLOGY INSTRUCTION, LIFE SKILLS/CHARACTER WORKSHOPS AND SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY ENGINEERING & MATHEMATICS (STEM) WORKSHOPS. THE ORGANIZATION ALSO PROVIDED PARENT TRAINING SESSIONS TO INCREASE PARENT INVOLVEMENT IN SCHOOL AND ENHANCE PARENTING SKILLS. THE NEIGHBORHOOD AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS TARGETED STUDENTS RANGING FROM PREK TO MIDDLE SCHOOL IN PUBLIC HOUSING NEIGHBORHOODS. SUPPLEMENTAL ACADEMIC SUPPORT WAS PROVIDED ON A DAILY BASIS FOR 180 DAYS TO THE TARGET POPULATION. ACTIVITIES INCLUDED EDUCATIONAL FIELD TRIPS TO TUSKEGEE UNIVERSITY, GEORGE WASHINGTON CARVER MUSEUM, FORT STATE UNIVERSITY, OXPOW MEADOWS, ROSA PARKS MUSEUM, AND ZOO ATLANTA.APPROXIMATELY 28 CHARACTER LIFE SKILLS WORKSHOPS WERE CONDUCTED FOR PUPILS AND PARENTS. THE PROGRAM SERVES CHILDREN IN PUBLIC HOUSING NEIGHBORHOOD.
