IN RECOGNITION OF THE NEED TO PROMOTE THE OVERALL ACHIEVEMENT LEVELS OF YOUNG PEOPLE, THE COLQUITT COUNTY PACKER FOUNDATION INC. IS FORMED TO PROMOTE THE ADVANCEMENT OF THE PROGRAMS OF THE COLQUITT COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOL SYSTEM (THE "SYSTEM") BY PROVIDING FINANCIAL AND VOLUNTEER SUPPORT TO THE STUDENTS, PRINCIPALS, TEACHERS, AND COACHES OF THE SYSTEM IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF INTERSCHOLASTIC STUDENT PROGRAMS, BY PROVIDING TAX-EXEMPT STATUS TO VARIOUS ACTIVITY SPECIFIC SUPPORT CLUBS ("CLUBS"), BY RAISING FUNDS TO SUPPLEMENT CLUB EFFORTS, BY PROVIDING GOVERNANCE AND ACCOUNTING OVERSIGHT, BY FACILITATING CONSISTENT COMMUNICATIONS, AND BY LEVERAGING VOLUNTEER EFFORTS.
The Colquitt County Packer Foundation Inc. was formed in support of school activities. Football, mens basketball, womens basketball and softball, baseball, tennis, soccer, golf, wrestling,cheerleading,and volleyball have clubs specifically designed to support their individual sports. In 2019, these clubs collectively raised approximately $516,000 in revenue and spent over $354,000 for program service expenses which included uniforms, equipment and supplies, meals and nutrition supplements, game travel, camps, and awards for athletes in middle school, junior high and high school level sports. The clubs also spent over $56,0000 directly related to fundraising efforts for direct support of the clubs. The TD Club made principle payments of $111,063 to finish paying off the $600,000 note that the Foundation borrowed in 2010 to pay for upgrades on the football stadium. Finally, club volunteers were organized to provide hundreds of man hours of service in support of the various sports programs.
