TO EDUCATE, SUPPORT, AND INSPIRE THE FIBER ARTS COMMUNITY
CONVERGENCE - HGA'S BiENNIAL FIBER ART CONFERENCE IN 2018 THAT TOOK PLACE IN RENO, NEVADA AND FEATURED MORE THAN 120 SEMINARS AND WORKSHOPS, 6 EXHIBITS, 5 TOURS, MARKETPLACE WITH DEMONSTRATIONS AND SUPPLIES/TOOLS FOR PURCHASE, FASHION SHOW, A KEYNOTE PRESENTER, AND MANY MORE ACTIVITIES. ATTENDANCE WAS MORE THAN DOUBLE THE PREVIOUS THREE CONFERECNCES AND CAN BE ATTRIBUTED TO EARLY ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE DATES AND LOCATION, PARTNERSHIPS WITH LOCAL AND REGIONAL FIBER ART GUILDS, ONLINE REGISTRATION, AND NEW EVENTS.
Shuttle Spindle & Dyepot HGA'S membership magazine provides inspiration, historical, cultural, and educational information to HGA members through articles featuring fiber artists profiles; museum and gallery exhibitions; ethnic, traditional, and innovative fiber art and/or textile techniques; Approximately 4,000 copies of the magazine are published quarterly and over the past year we have seen an increase in requests for access to digital copies. This year we included a professional directory highlighting our professional members and their contact information.
Education programs for HGA members include the Certificate of Excellence (COE), Textile Kit Rentals, Scholarships, and Artist Grants
