OPERATION SCHOOL BELL PROGRAM - PROVIDED NEW SCHOOL CLOTHING OR UNIFORM T-SHIRTS FOR 9,056 STUDENTS FROM 45 SCHOOLS ON OAHU, MOLOKAI AND "THE BIG ISLAND" OF HAWAII.OPERATION SCHOOL BELL PROGRAM - PROVIDED SHOES, JACKETS AND SWEATSHIRTS TO SCHOOLS NEEDED TO CHILDREN IN LAVA STRICKEN AND COLD WEATHER AREAS.- A SURVEY TO MEASURE STUDENT OUTCOMES WAS SENT TO ALL 45 SCHOOLS AND 43 SCHOOLS RESPONDED. 41 OF THE 43 SCHOOLS SURVEYED SAW "SIGNIFICANT CHANGE IN CLASSROOM BEHAVIOR", 42 SCHOOLS SAW "POSITIVE OR SIGNIFICANT CHANNGE IN STUDENT CONFIDENCE AND 38 SCHOOLS SAW "POSITIVE ENGAGING WITH PEERS" AFTER STUDENTS RECEIVED THEIR NEW SCHOOL CLOTHING.- OPERATION SCHOOL BELL LITERACY SERVICES (FORMERLY TUTU TUTORIAL) PROVIDED CLASSROOM TUTORING FOR INDIVIDUAL ATTENTION TO STUDENTS IN CLASSROOMS AT VARIOUS ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS ON OAHU, MANAGED PUUHALE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL LIBRARY THAT SERVED APPROXUMATELY 240 STUDENTS IN GRADES K-5TH GRADE AND PROVIDED AGE-APPROPRIATE BOOKS TO THE KAHAUIKI VILLAGE PRE-SCHOOL SERVING CHILDREN AGED 1-5 YEARS OLD.
OPERATION WILDLIFE PROGRAM - PRESENTED ENDUCATION TO THE CHILDREN AND ADULTS THROUGH AN ENDANGERED SPECIES PRESENTATION "PRESERVING OUR ENVIRONMENT FOR THE FUTURE" TO 3,992 4TH GRADE STUDENTS AND 249 ADULTS IN SCHOOLS ON OAHU, MAUI, MOLOKAI AND THE BIG ISLAND OF HAWAII. - DISPLAYED AN EXHIBIT OF APPROXIMATEKY 150 BIOFACTS FOR STUDENTS TO TOUCH AND SEE REAL ANIMALS THAT ARE ENDANGERED AND MAY GO EXTINCT IF THEY ARE NOT PROTECTED.
WE CARE PROGRAMSERVED 4,700 CHILDREN AND ADULTS ON OAHU IN THE FOLLOWING WAYS: - PROVIDED MALAMA BEARS (COMFORT TEDDY BEARS) TO SERVERAL HOSPITAL PEDIATRIC WARDS, HONOLULU FIRE DEPARTMENT STATIONS, HOSPICE FOR CHILDREN AND ADULTS, AND LEGACY OF LIFE GIVING COMFORT TO THOSE IN TRAUMATIC SITUATIONS.- SUPPLIED BABY LAYETTES TO HOPSITALS FOR NEW MOTHERS AT OAHU HOSPITALS.- SUPPLIED ONE-WAY BUS PASSES, BACKPACKS, PERSONAL HYGIENE ITEMS, UNDERWEAR, T-SHIRTS FOR YOUTH AT THE DROP-IN AT RISK TEENAGE SHELTER THROUGH YOUTH OUTREACH ACTIVITY.- SUPPLIED SHRINERS HOSPITAL WITH MALAMA BEARS, SMALL ACTIVITY ITEMS, COLORING BOOKS, PUZZLES, SUDOKU GAMES AND OTHER ITEMS FOR PATIENTS. - SUPPLIED BUS PASSES, DIAPERS, ETC. TO RESIDENTS OF THE DOMESTIC VIOLENCE ACTION CENTER.- THROUGH HALE KIPA, SUPPLIED SMALL HOUSEHOLD ITEMS, SMALL ELECTRIC APPLIANCES, AND CLOTHING TO YOUTH TRANSITIONING FROM FOSTER CARE TO INDEPENDENT LIVING.
