This project is named The Manoa Heritage Center (MHC). Awaiaulu provides assistance to MHC in researching 18th century Hawaiian language sources relating to Manoa Valley. A focus of the project is training translators.
This program is named the Translation Training project and includes work on translating 19th century Hawaiian language manuscripts into English and re-formatting the Hawaiian into current written language usage. The focus of these efforts is primarily training editors and translators, and the efforts should also produce publishable material. During 2019, the project included 2 mentors-in-training, 4 trainers-in-training, and 9 translators-in-training; all under the support and tutelage of Dr. Puakea Nogelmeier.
This project is named OHE/DOE/Kai Loa and provides assistance to the Hawaii Department of Education. The work includes training for Hawaiian language teachers and curriculum design.
