HAPA PROVIDES ORIGINAL PROGRAMMING IN THE PERFORMING, VISUAL, AND LITERACY ARTS, AS WELL AS SUPPORT FOR ARTS CREATED BY AND FOR OUR LOCAL COMMUNITY.

THE HAWAII ACADEMY OF PERFORMING ARTS (HAPA) PROVIDES A DYNAMIC ART GALLERY WITH 12 SHOWS PER YEAR, OPEN TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC TUESDAY-SATURDAY, SHOWCASING HAWAII'S VISUAL AND FINE ARTISTS. HAPA OPERATES AS A HOME BASE FOR THE FIRST FRIDAY EVENT EACH MONTH, INCLUDING THE OPENING OF THE NEW GALLERY SHOW AND ENTERTAINMENT. THE HAWAII ACADEMY OF PERFORMING ARTS HAS BEEN IN OPERATION SINCE 2001 AS AN ARTIST-RUN, NONPROFIT COMMUNITY ARTS CENTER THAT ATTRACTS OVER 20,000 ANNUAL VISITORS TO TWELVE MAJOR MULTIDISCIPLINARY EXHIBITS AND OVER 150 PERFORMANCES,LECTURES, SCREENINGS, AND WORKSHOPS. IT HAS SERVED OVER THE YEARS AS AN INCUBATOR FOR MANY PERFORMANCE AND VISUAL ARTS GROUPS, AND OFFERS CREATIVE CLASSES FOR THE NEIGHBORHOOD YOUTH. HAPA IS A PRIMARY SPONSOR OF THE CREATIVE REVITALIZATION OF THE DOWNTOWN-CHINATOWN AREA THROUGH NEIGHBORHOOD RELATIONS, STREET FESTIVALS, NEIGHBORHOOD MAPS, FIRST FRIDAY HONOLULU, AND OTHER COMMUNITY CELEBRATIONS.
