Organizations Filed Purposes: LANAKILA PACIFIC'S MISSION IS TO BUILD INDEPENDENCE AND AN IMPROVED QUALITY OF LIFE FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH COGNITIVE, PHYSICAL, SOCIAL, OR AGE RELATED CHALLENGES.

LANAKILA WORKFORCE RESOURCES OFFERS TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES AND PRACTICAL WORK EXPERIENCE AT A NETWORK OF 53 TRAINING AND SUPPORTED WORKSITES TO DEVELOP THE SKILLS, BEHAVIORS, AND CONFIDENCE NEEDED FOR INDIVIDUALS TO SUCCESSFULLY SEEK, OBTAIN, AND MAINTAIN EMPLOYMENT IN THE COMMUNITY. INDIVIDUALS RECEIVE PAID WORK EXPERIENCE AND SPECIALIZED TRAINING IN CUSTODIAL SERVICE, GROUNDS MAINTENANCE, SILK SCREENING AND EMBROIDERY, PACKAGING, AND FOOD SERVICE (OTHER THAN LANAKILA KITCHEN). LANAKILA WORKFORCE RESOURCES ALSO HAS SUPPORTIVE PROGRAMS THAT PROVIDE INDIVIDUALS AN OPPORTUNITY TO GAIN OR IMPROVE SOFT SKILLS THAT ALLOW THEM TO EXPAND THEIR PERSONAL INDEPENDENCE. THESE SKILLS CAN IMPROVE AN INDIVIDUAL'S ABILITY TO RETAIN EMPLOYMENT OVER TIME, AS WELL AS PROVIDE A HIGHER QUALITY OF LIVING OVERALL.

NUTRITION SERVICES IS THE COMBINATION OF LANAKILA KITCHEN AND LANAKILA MEALS ON WHEELS. LANAKILA KITCHEN PROVIDES TRAINING FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES IN THE PREPARATION OF MEALS FOR LANAKILA MEALS ON WHEELS, SCHOOLS, AND OTHER GROUPS IN THE COMMUNITY. THE GOAL OF LANAKILA KITCHEN, AS A WORKFORCE PROGRAM, IS TO DEVELOP THE SKILLS, BEHAVIORS, AND CONFIDENCE NEEDED FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES TO SUCCESSFULLY SEEK, OBTAIN, AND MAINTAIN EMPLOYMENT IN THE COMMUNITY. LANAKILA MEALS ON WHEELS IS HAWAII'S LARGEST AND ONLY ISLAND-WIDE MEAL PROVIDER FOR SENIOR AND INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES. IN FISCAL YEAR 2020, LANAKILA MEALS ON WHEELS PROVIDED OVER 380,000 NUTRITIONALLY BALANCED MEALS TO OVER 2,800 INDIVIDUALS THROUGH OUR HOME AND COMMUNITY-BASED SERVICES. THE GOAL OF LANAKILA MEALS ON WHEELS IS TO ALLOW SENIORS AND INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES TO AGE IN PLACE WITH DIGNITY BY PREVENTING HUNGER AND SOCIAL ISOLATION WHICH OFTEN LEADS TO INSTITUTIONALIZATION.

TEACHING AND LEARNING CENTERS ("TLC") PROMOTE SELF-ADVOCACY AND INCLUSION IN THE COMMUNITY FOR PEOPLE WITH INTELLECTUAL CHALLENGES AND DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES THROUGH INNOVATIVE CLASSES THAT PROMOTE INDEPENDENCE. THE PROGRAM OFFERS A VARIETY OF CLASSES FOCUSED ON DEVELOPING BASIC LIFE SKILLS OF INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES, SUCH AS INTELLECTUAL CHALLENGES AND AUTISM. TLCS SERVE APPROXIMATELY 110 PARTICIPANTS EACH YEAR. ACTIVITY AREAS INCLUDE PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT, EDUCATION, HOME MANAGEMENT, COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT, RECREATION AND LEISURE, AND PREVOCATIONAL READINESS. IN MARCH ALL IN-PERSON SERVICES WERE SUSPENDED DUE TO COVID-19. THE TRANSITION WAS MADE TO OFFER TELEHEALTH SERVICES. IN PERSON SERVICES HAVE SLOWLY RE-OPENED, AS ALLOWABLE BY STATE AND FUNDER GUIDELINES. TELEHEALTH ALSO CONTINUES TO BE OFFERED AS APPROPRIATE.
