Organizations Filed Purposes: THE ORGANIZATION SPONSORS AND FACILITATES SAFETY TRAININGS THAT INCLUDES PROVIDING INFORMATION, TRAINING AND TOOLS THAT HELPS EMPLOYERS MAKE COMPETENT PERSON DESIGNATIONS FOR THEIR APPROPRIATE STAFF. SAFETY TRAININGS ALSO INCLUDE NEW OSHA AND HIOSH STANDARDS AND UPDATING OF ADMINISTRATIVE RULES. THE ASSOCIATION'S ANNUAL HOME SHOW WAS HELD ON APRIL 12-13 IN THE KAUAI WAR MEMORIAL CONVENTION HALL. ALL 33 BOOTHS AVAILABLE INDOORS AND ONE OUTDOOR BOOTH WERE SOLD. FOUR CONSUMER SEMINARS WERE PRESENTED AS PART OF THE HOME SHOW VENUE THAT INCLUDED: INFORMATION ON HURRICANE INSURANCE; LIVING WILLS AND TRUSTS; BUILDING OF GUEST COTTAGES, ADDITIONAL DWELLING UNIT (ADU) AND ADDITIONAL RENTAL UNIT (ARU); AND SOLAR PHOTOVOLTAIC AND BATTERY STORAGE, NEW RULES AND STANDARDS. THE GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETINGS ARE DESIGNED TO PROVIDE EDUCATION, INFORMATION OR UPDATES ON TIMELY TOPICS OR ISSUES. IN ADDITION, THE ASSOCIATION PUBLISHED A MONTHLY NEWSLETTER THAT IS DISTRIBUTED IN ELECTRONIC OR HARD COPIES NA

CAK PROVIDED 10 SAFETY TRAININGS IN 2019 FOR 273 EMPLOYEES AND STAFF. THE CERTIFIED TRAINING IN SAFETY STANDARDS INCLUDED: FORK LIFT CERTIFICATION AND RECERTIFICATION (FOUR SESSIONS); FEDERAL DOT STANDARDS FOR CERTIFIED FLAGGER TRAINING (TWO SESSIONS); SILICA TRAINING FOR SUPERVISORS AND END USERS; DRIVER IMPROVEMENT PROGRAMS (DIP) FOR COMMERCIAL DRIVER LICENSEES (CDL); FALL PROTECTION TRAINING, AERIAL/SCISSORS LIFT TRAINING, AND EXCAVATION AND TRENCHING TRAINING FOR END USERS. IN ADDITION, CAK PARTNERED WITH THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH, CLEANWATER BRANCH TO PROVIDE A WORKSHOP ON UPDATING THE NATIONAL POLLUTANT DISCHARGE ELIMINATION SYSTEMS (NPDES) AND BEST MANAGEMENT PRACTICES (BMPS). THE WORKSHOP WAS DESIGNED FOR LAND OWNERS, DEVELOPERS, CONSULTANTS, GENERAL CONTRACTORS, ENGINEERS, CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT FIRMS AND COUNTY AGENCIES. 55 PEOPLE ATTENDED THE DAY LONG WORKSHOP.

THE ASSOCIATION SPONSORS UP TO SIX GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETINGS A YEAR WHICH IS DESIGNED TO PROVIDE MEMBERS, POTENTIAL MEMBERS, AND GUESTS WITH TIMELY INFORMATION, AND EDUCATION THAT IMPACTS THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY AND/OR THE BUSINESS COMMUNITY. IN 2019 THOSE PRESENTATIONS INCLUDED: - NEWLY ELECTED MAYOR, DEREK KAWAKAMI SPOKE ON THE GOALS AND VISION FOR HIS ADMINISTRATION FOR THE NEXT FOUR YEAR; - DUSTIN MOISES, CONSTRUCTION MANAGER FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF WATER (DOW) PROVIDED UPDATE ON DOW CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS. - NETWORK AND FELLOWSHIP AT THE NEW IMU TEACHING FACILITY AT KAUAI COMMUNITY COLLEGE. - MATT FREEMAN OF HAWAIIAN TELCOM'S MANAGED SECURITY DEPARTMENT SPOKE ON CYBER SECURITY BATTLES THE BUSINESS COMMUNITY IS EMBROILED IN DAILY AGAINST CYBER CRIMINALS. HE OFFERED SOLUTIONS AND SERVICES TO SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS. - TODD RAYBUCK, THE KAUAI COUNTY'S NEW CHIEF OF POLICE SPOKE ON NEW BEGINNINGS FOR THE DEPARTMENT UNDER HIS LEADERSHIP. - DR. DAVID LASSNER, PH.D., PRESIDENT OF THE TEN CAMPUS UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII SYSTEM SPOKE ON THE FUTURE OF VOCATIONAL EDUCATION IN THE COMMUNITY COLLEGE SYSTEM.
