THE HUI'S OPEN STUDIO PROGRAM ADVANCES CAREERS FOR OVER 100 COMMUNITY ARTISTS ANNUALLY WHO HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO WORK UNDER THE GUIDANCE OF SKILLED TEACHING ARTISTS AND STUDIO TECHNICIANS OR WORKING INDEPENDENTLY WITH ACCESS TO PROFESSIONAL, WORLD-CLASS ART STUDIOS, EQUIPMENT, AND TOOLS. HUI NOEAU'S VISITING ARTIST PROGRAM FEATURES HANDS-ON WORKSHOPS WITH PRESENTATIONS BY PROFESSIONAL LOCAL, NATIONAL, AND INTERNATIONAL VISUAL ARTISTS. THE HUI'S "TEACH THE TEACHERS" PROGRAM ENABLES PROFESSIONAL TEACHING ARTIST TO PASS ALONG TECHNIQUES AND SKILLS THAT CAN BE UTILIZED IN MAUI'S PUBLIC AND PRIVATE SCHOOL CLASSROOMS FOR MANY YEARS TO COME. HUI NOEAU'S ART WITH ALOHA PROGRAM ADDRESSES THE NEED TO CONTINUE PRESERVING AND ADVOCATING FOR HAWAIIAN ARTS AND CULTURE FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS BY BRING SOME OF HAWAII'S MOST SKILLED PRACTITIONERS TO HUI NOEAU TO TEACH ONE OR TWO DAY WORKSHOPS AND LEAD FREE DEMOS IN HAWAIIAN ARTS AND CULTURE.
YOUTH PROGRAMS SERVE OVER 3,600 MAUI YOUTH ANNUALLY THROUGH REGULAR HUI YOUTH AND FAMILY PROGRAMS, ART CAMPS, AND ADDITIONAL PROGRAM OUTREACH OPPORTUNITIES AND FIELD TRIPS. HUI NO`EAU COLLABORATES WITH COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS, SCHOOLS AND EDUCATORS TO SERVE AT-RISK AND SPECIAL NEEDS YOUTH OR THOSE WITHOUT ADEQUATE ARTS EDUCATION FUNDING. THE HUI ALSO OFFERS A ROBUST SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM THAT ENABLES STUDENTS IN NEED OF FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO PARTICIPATE IN HUI CLASSES, CAMPS, FIELD TRIPS, AND OUTREACH PROGRAMS YEAR ROUND. THE GOALS ARE TO PROVIDE YOUTH WITH MEANINGFUL AND UNIQUE SKILLS, POSITIVE ADULT ROLE MODELS, AND EXPERIENCES THAT MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN CHILDREN'S' LIFELONG ACADEMIC AND SOCIAL SUCCESS.
HUI EXHIBITS PROVIDE MEANINGFUL OPPORTUNITIES TO PARTICIPATE IN THE VISUAL ARTS IN A PUBLIC, OPEN SPACE BY OFFERING UP TO EIGHT FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC EXHIBITIONS ANNUALLY. THE PROGRAM HAS ADVANCED CAREERS AND CONTINUES TO DEFINE MAUI'S LOCAL VISUAL ARTS MOVEMENT. EXHIBITS INCLUDE UP TO 6 FREE ACCOMPANYING JUROR OR ARTIST LECTURES, WALK-THROUGHS AND WORKSHOPS ANNUALLY, SERVING 14,609 PEOPLE IN THE FISCAL YEAR ENDING JUNE 30, 2020.
