INSTITUTE IS A SERIES OF EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS AND FIELD SEMINARS ON A VARIETY OF TOPICS SUCH AS ECOLOGY, BOTANY, ZOOLOGY, GEOLOGY AND OTHER TOPICS. THE INSTITUTE PROVIDED 700 PROGRAMS, SERVING OVER 4,000 VISITORS.
THE YOUTH RANGER INTERNSHIP PROGRAM PROVIDES EDUCATION AND CAREER PREPARATION TO YOUTH IN RURAL HAWAII. YOUTH TRAIN WITH PARK RANGERS IN SIX DIFFERENT DIVISIONS WITHIN THE PARK, INCLUDING INTERPRETATION, NATURAL RESOURCES, CULTURAL RESOURCES, MAINTENANCE, PROTECTION AND ADMINISTRATION. YOUTH RANGERS SERVED 45 YOUTHS, AND FHVNP SPONSORED 4 YOUTHS FOR THE SUMMER PROGRAM, AND PAID FOR THE ENTIRE TRAINING OF 67 YOUTH OVER AN EIGHT WEEK PERIOD.
