Organizations Filed Purposes:
To preserve, protect and restore a remnant native Hawaiian dry forest ecosystem through land management, outreach, education and grass roots advocacy.
Land Management: Control of invasive species and reduction of fuels in and around 275 acres of the Waikoloa Dry Forest Preserve. We also propagated, cared for and grew 3000 native plants and established native plants on 15 acres. Completed repair of fending damaged in a wildfire.
Outreach and education: We hosted educational field trips for hundreds of students and provided interpretive tours to more than 1000 visitors. We also presented information at public events, conferences and meetings. We promote volunteerism in our community and hosted twenty volunteer opportunities in the forest. We also began the eighth year of our children's program which we expanded to four days per week.
