Organizations Filed Purposes: A community owned non stock cooperative that provides access to healthy foods and local products by supporting local entrepreneurs and Waimanalo businesses to promote healthy lifestyles, social and economic well being, community wide.

To provide a community place where supportive relationships are strengthened by providing increased markets for and access to healthy foods and local products; to support Waimanalo businesses and increase social and economic well-being community-wide.

Provide and enhance access to affordable, nutritious, locally sourced, and culturally accepted food for lower-income and health challenged residents. Provided incentive for SNAP/EBT participants to purchase local produce by offering a 50% discount on all produce purchased in the store. We reached over 600 EBT families on the island of Oahu. Over the three year grant period, 7,500 pounds of locally grown produce was made available to the community of Waimanalo and surrounding communities and anyone that purchased local produce from the store.

Increase local entrepreneurship in our community by providing market access and feedback system to test new products for sale. Provided events to "meet the maker" and workshops with Small Business Administration to educate new entrepreneurs. We provided monthly "Farmer's Markets" in our parking lot and at least 12 entrepreneurs participated to showcase their products. Throughout the year we added at least four new entrepreneurs to try their products in the store. Throughout the three year grant period we had a 60% increase in farmer participation with a total of 82 farmers, 20% of which were women and 6% were considered low-income.

Increase community awareness of the nutritious value of eating local and healthy. Provided workshops to pregnant and/or breastfeeding mothers to increase awareness of choosing and consuming locally grown, organic produce as part of their diet. Provided recipes and nutritious value for certain types of produce. Provided protocol and education to prepare and use traditional and Hawaiian medicinal plants and herbs. Provided programs that target Diabetes, Blood Pressure and the healthy outcomes from the use of Native Hawaiian medicinal remedies; provided the plants to participants and the knowledge of how to prepare the remedies. Twelve families committed to weekly healthy eating.
