VISITORS CAN TOUR THE PARK WHICH INCLUDES A PACK OF WOLVES LIVING IN A SIX-ACRE NATURAL HABITAT, PLUS ADDITIONAL ANIMALS INCLUDING WOLVES, COYOTES, FOXES, AND BISON IN OTHER ENCLOSURES. STAFF MEMBERS PRESENT LECTURES AND DEMONSTRATIONS OF WOLF BEHAVIOR. WOLF PARK'S 1,500+ MEMBERS RECEIVE A QUARTERLY INFORMATIONAL AND EDUCATIONAL NEWSLETTER. THEY CAN ALSO ATTEND MEMBER EVENTS AND RECEIVE DISCOUNTS. ANIMAL CARE AND HUSBANDRY STANDARDS ARE MAINTAINED AT THE HIGHEST LEVELS OF QUALITY. IN ADDITION TO ROUTINE AND NON-ROUTINE VETERINARY CARE, WOLF PARK MAINTAINS A VERY ACTIVE ENVIRONMENTAL ENRICHMENT PROGRAM.
WOLF PARK PRESENTS SEMINARS ON A VARIETY OF TOPICS INCLUDING WOLF AND DOG BEHAVIOR, WILDLIFE PHOTOGRAPHY, AND ANIMAL TRAINING. THE SEMINARS RANGE FROM ONE TO THREE DAYS IN DURATION, AND MOST INCLUDE THE OPPORTUNITY TO VISIT THE PACK OF WOLVES WITHIN THEIR ENCLOSURE. IN 2019, 65 PEOPLE ATTENDED SEMINARS AT THE PARK. AN ADDITIONAL 108 CHILDREN PARTICIPATED IN PROGRAMS GEARED FOR THOSE UNDER THE AGE OF 18. THESE PROGRAMS INCLUDE PRESENTATIONS ON WOLF, FOX AND COYOTE BEHAVIOR, AND ECOLOGY AND CAN BE TAILORED TO MEET A PARTICULAR CURRICULUM. INDIVIDUALS ALSO PARTICIPATED IN PRIVATE TOURS AT WOLF PARK WHERE THEY WERE ABLE TO EXPERIENCE A MORE IN- DEPTH TOUR AND HANDLING DEMONSTRATION. ADDITIONALLY, WOLF PARK IS A POPULAR DESTINATION OF SCHOOL FIELD TRIPS AND CLUBS.
WOLF PARK MAINTAINS A VERY ACTIVE RESEARCH AND EDUCATION PROGRAM UNDER THE LEADERSHIP OF DR. CLIVE WYNNE WITH THE ASSISTANCE OF DR. GORDON BURGHARDT. SEVERAL STUDIES WITH THE WOLVES HAVE BEEN COMPLETED AND THE RESULTS PUBLISHED IN SCIENTIFIC JOURNALS. AS A RESULT OF THESE STUDIES, SEVERAL ANIMAL RESEARCHERS FROM OTHER UNIVERSITIES HAVE COME TO THE PARK TO STUDY THE ANIMALS. WOLF PARK ALSO OFFERS 1-3 MONTH INTERNSHIPS FOR INDIVIDUALS OVER THE AGE OF 18. IN 2019, 14 INTERNS STUDIED AT WOLF PARK AND WORKED ALONGSIDE THE STAFF WITH THE DAILY OPERATIONS, AS WELL AS ASSISTED WITH RESEARCH PROJECTS.
