Day Ministry: Four days a week, Women of Alabaster (WOA) offers women a place of refuge where they receive meals, a quiet place to rest, counseling and prayer. Prior to Covid, on average, over 50 women would visit the ministry building each month, building trust until they are ready to make a decision for a pathway to freedom. With Covid safety precautions, WOA contiued to see around 25 women monthly. WOA was providing, on average, 350 client trips annually to medical and legal appointments, assist with grocery shopping, transport to detox or recovery facilities, etc. In 2020, the ministry continued to offer these services, but in a less frequent, or "safer" manner. During 2020, the Day Ministry experienced close to 1,000 visits (about 1/2 of pre-Covid), connecting to 140 ladies seeking hope.
AGAPE Farm opened in the summer of 2020 to women who have "graduated" a detox program, and are ready to begin a longer term recovery program. AGAPE Farm is a residence facility operated by WOA in a country setting where women experience faith-based counseling and trauma-centered therapy. They have the opportunity to learn life skills and pursue education opportunities. In 2020, the AGAPE program was home to 4 women seeking their pathway to freedom.
Outreach teams connect with women currently on the streets, offering food, toiletries and prayer - making the initial connection in building trusting relationships. One of our church partners provides an outreach van at no cost to WOA (other than fuel). Plans are underway to expand the weekly outreach from current locations in Over-the Rhine, the West End, Price Hill and Covington, to areas in Hamilton, OH.
