Organizations Filed Purposes: TO BUILD BETTER FUTURES FOR YOUNG CHILDREN BY PROMOTING AND PROVIDING QUALITY EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION AND SERVICES FOR FAMILIES, EARLY CHILDHOOD PROFESSIONALS AND THE COMMUNITY.

CHILD CARE WAS PROVIDED FROM 6 AM TO 6 PM WEEKDAYS FOR 301 CHILDREN IN 2020. THE NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED HIGH SCOPE CURRICULUM WAS UTILIZED. MORE THAN 85% OF THE CHILDREN CAME FROM LOW-INCOME OR AT-RISK FAMILIES. IN ADDITION TO THE DIRECT SERVICES REVENUE SHOWN ABOVE, ECA RECEIVED FEDERAL GRANT MONIES, COMMUNITY GRANTS, AND CONTRIBUTIONS TO FUND THIS PROGRAM.

THE FOOD PROGRAM MONITORS AND REIMBURSES 196 FAMILY CHILD CARE HOMES AND 15 CHILD CARE CENTERS IMPACTING MORE THAN 3,753 CHILDREN. THE HOMES AND CENTERS PREPARE NUTRITIONALLY BALANCED MEALS AND SNACKS FOR CHILDREN IN 16 NORTHERN INDIANA COUNTIES. EARLY CHILDHOOD ALLIANCE RECEIVED FEDERAL GRANT MONIES TO FUND THIS PROGRAM AND DISBURSED OVER 2 MILLION IN REIMBURSEMENTS TO THE HOME CHILD CARE PROVIDERS AND CENTERS WHO PARTICIPATED IN THE PROGRAM.

ECA PROVIDES SEVERAL INNOVATIVE APPROACHES IN WORKING WITH FAMILIES WITH YOUNG CHILDREN ACROSS THE REGION. IN 2020, ECA INTRODUCED SPARKITS. SPARKITS PROVIDES FAMILIES WITH DEVELOPMENTAL INFORMATION, RESOURCES AND MATERIALS TO TEACH SPECIFIC SKILLS WITH THEIR CHILDREN. THE KITS ARE DELIVERED TO THE HOME OF PARTICIPATING FAMILIES. IN 2020, ECA PROVIDED 212 KITS TO 75 FAMILIES ACROSS THE REGION. THE KITS WERE ESPECIALLY RELEVANT DURING THE PANDEMIC AND ASSISTED PARENTS WITH "LEARNING LOSS" CONCERNS WHEN CHILDREN COULD NOT ATTEND SCHOOL. DURING 2020, ECA'S PARENT EDUCATORS PROVIDED 481 HOME VISITS (BOTH IN PERSON AND VIRTUALLY) WITH 74 FAMILIES IMPACTING 114 CHILDREN ACROSS THE REGION. IN ADDITION, THE PROGRAM PROVIDED 4,262 BOOKS TO YOUNG FAMILIES WHICH INCLUDED IMPORTANT MESSAGES FOR EXPECTANT FAMILIES, FAMILIES OF NEWBORNS AND TO FAMILIES OF INFANTS/ TODDLERS. THE BOOKS WERE PROVIDED AT MEDICAL OFFICES. ECA ALSO PROVIDED RESOURCES VIA TEXT MESSAGE TO APPROXIMATELY 400 FAMILIES. EARLY CHILDHOOD ALLIANCE IMPACTED APPROXIMATELY 9,281 CHILDREN IN NORTHERN INDIANA IN 2020 THROUGH FAMILY ENGAGEMENT, ECA'S LEARNING CENTERS, AND THE CHILD & ADULT CARE FOOD PROGRAM (CACFP).
