ADVOCACY AND ADULT GUARDIANSHIP SERVICES - IN 2019, MHANI SERVED 4,897 CONSUMERS, FAMILY MEMBERS, PARENTS, CHILDREN, AND PROFESSIONALS. MHANI PROGRAMS FALL UNDER THE BROAD UMBRELLAS OF ADVOCACY, EDUCATION, AND SUPPORT SERVICES. ADVOCACY INVOLVES CONNECTING WITH AND SUPPORTING AN INDIVIDUAL TO ENSURE THEY ACCESS THE RESOURCES THEY NEED FOR THE SAKE OF THEIR WELLNESS. ADVOCATES PROVIDE INFORMATION AND RESOURCES TO COMMUNITY MEMBERS ON A VARIETY OF MENTAL HEALTH TOPICS (85 SERVED IN 2019). MHANI IS INVOLVED WITH LOCAL AND REGIONAL COALITIONS TO ADVOCATE FOR CHANGES AT A BROADER LEVEL. MHANI COORDINATED EMERGENCY DETENTION ORDERS AND PSYCHIATRIC INVOLUNTARY COMMITMENTS FOR AREA HOSPITALS (640 SERVED); THIS SERVICE WILL NOT CONTINUE IN 2020. THROUGH GUARDIANSHIP SERVICES, GUARDIANS ADVOCATE FOR PROPER MEDICAL CARE ON BEHALF OF INDIVIDUALS WITH INCAPACITATING CONDITIONS WHO ARE UNABLE TO MAKE SOUND MEDICAL DECISIONS ON THEIR OWN (110 SERVED).

EDUCATION AND COMMUNITY SERVICES - EDUCATION PROVIDES TRAININGS THAT INCREASE PUBLIC KNOWLEDGE REGARDING MENTAL HEALTH TOPICS. MENTAL HEALTH, SUBSTANCE USE, SUICIDE PREVENTION, AND TRAUMA TRAININGS ARE EVIDENCE BASED AND INFORMED. TRAININGS REDUCE STIGMA, DISPEL MYTHS, AND INCREASE ACCEPTANCE OF THOSE IMPACTED BY THESE ISSUES (3,230 TRAINED AND/OR CERTIFIED). MHANI PRESENTED KIDS ON THE BLOCK SKITS TO 399 THIRD GRADERS.

CEDARS HOPE AND SUPPORTIVE SERVICES - SUPPORT SERVICES PROVIDE DIRECT, ONGOING SUPPORT TO COMMUNITY MEMBERS. PEER SUPPORT SPECIALISTS WITH LIVED EXPERIENCE OVERCOMING MENTAL HEALTH CONDITIONS, TRAUMA, AND SUBSTANCE USE PROVIDE RECOVERY CLASSES, MENTORING, AND SUPPORT GROUPS FOR INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE WORKING TOWARDS THEIR OWN RECOVERY (84 SERVED). PARENT CAFES TEACH PARENTS ABOUT EVIDENCE-BASED PROTECTIVE FACTORS INTENDED TO HELP THEM BUILD A STRONGER, HEALTHIER, AND SAFER FAMILY FOR THEIR CHILDREN (325 SERVED). CEDARS HOPE IS A SUPPORTIVE HOUSING PROGRAM FOR WOMEN WITH SEVERE MENTAL HEALTH CONDITIONS WHO ARE AT HIGH RISK OF HOMELESSNESS. RESIDENTS ARE PROVIDED HOUSING, TRANSPORTATION, AND CASE MANAGEMENT SERVICES (24 SERVED).
