OPPORTUNITY SERVICES - YWCA'S OPPORTUNITY SERVICES ENCOMPASSES SUPPORT PROVIDED TO VICTIMS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND SEXUAL ASSAULT IN NORTHEAST INDIANA. OUR TWENTY-FOUR-HOUR CRISIS LINE, WHICH HANDLED 1835 CALLS IN 2020, IS STAFFED BY TRAINED VOLUNTEERS WHO CAN PROVIDE IMMEDIATE SUPPORT AND INFORMATION TO THOSE IN CRISIS DUE TO AN ACT OF SEXUAL VIOLENCE AND/OR DOMESTIC VIOLENCE. YWCA NORTHEAST INDIANA ALSO EMPLOYS THREE FULL-TIME THERAPISTS THAT WORK ONSITE AT OUR DOMESTIC VIOLENC CRISIS SHELTER AND HAVE ONSITE HOURS AT THE ALLEN COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH, AS WELL AS OFFER SERVICES VIRTUALLY. YWCA THERAPISTS OFFER SUPPORT TO YWCA CLIENTS OR ANY INDIVIDUAL WHO HAS EXPERIENCED DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, SEXUAL ASSAULT, STALKING, HUMAN TRAFFICKING, DATING VIOLENCE, AND SIMILAR CRIMES. THERAPY IS FREE OF CHARGE, IS AVAILABLE TO BOTH INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES, AND PARTICIPANTS DO NOT HAVE TO BE YWCA CLIENTS. IN 2020, 135 YWCA CLIENTS UTILIZED OUR THERAPY SERVICES OVER 812 THERAPY SESSIONS. AS PART OF OPPORTUNITY SERVICES, YWCA PROVIDES A CONTINUUM OF SERVICES FOR WOMEN, MEN, AND CHILDREN IN OUR SIX COUNTY SERVICE AREA WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED DOMESTIC VIOLENCE. WE PROVIDE A TWENTY-FOUR-HOUR CRISIS SHELTER FOR FAMILIES FLEEING THEIR HOMES DUE TO DOMESTIC VIOLENCE. OUR CRISIS SHELTER IS COMPRISED OF STAFF AROUND THE CLOCK ASSISTING CLIENTS WITH IDENTIFYING THEIR NEEDS, CONNECTING TO RESOURCES, AND PLANNING FOR A SAFE FUTURE. DURING 2020, 495 ADULTS AND CHILDREN WERE ASSISTED THROUGH OUR PROGRAMS AT THE SHELTER.

ADDICTION TREATMENT SERVICES - YWCA'S ADDICTION RECOVERY PROGRAM, HOPE & HARRIET, PROVIDED 125 HOMELESS, CHEMICALLY DEPENDENT WOMEN WITH SUPPORTIVE SERVICES TO HELP THEM MAINTAIN RECOVERY AND BECOME SELF-SUFFICIENT IN 2020, THOSE SUPPORTIVE SERVICES INCLUDED CASE MANAGEMENT, PEER RECOVERY SUPPORT, EMPLOYMENT TRAINING, FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT, PARENTING GUIDANCE, AND HOUSING SUPPORT. HOPE HOUSE SUPPORTS WOMEN WITHOUT CHILDREN OR WHO NEED LONGER TO RESTABLISH RELATIONSHIPS WITH THEIR CHILDREN IN WORKING THROUGH THEIR RECOVERY. HARRIET HOUSE IS ONE OF FEW ADDICTION RECOVERY TREATMENT CENTERS IN INDIANA THAT ACCOMMODATES WOMEN WHO HAVE RETAINED CUSTOY OF THEIR CHILDREN. THIS ENABLES WOMEN TO RECEIVE QUALITY, IN-PATIENT TREATMENT WITHOUT HAVING TO GIVE UP CUSTODY OF THEIR CHILDREN. FIFTY BEDS ARE AVAILABLE BETWEEN THE TWO HOUSES TO SUPPORT HOMELESS WOMEN RECOVERING FROM SUBSTANCE ABUSE ADDICTION AND THEIR CHILDREN.

SUCCESS SERVICES - AS PART OF THE CONTINUUM OF CARE PROVIDED TO VICTIMS AND SURVIVORS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, WE OFFER ADVOCACY SERVICES/CASE MANAGMENT TO CLIENTS LIVING IN THE SHELTER AND CLIENTS STAYING OUT IN THE COMMUNITY. IN 2020, YWCA SECURED FUNDING TO TRANSITION FROM THREE SEPARATE CASE MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS TO ONE CASE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM CALLED SUCCESS SERVICES. WITH THE SUCCESS SERVICES MODEL, EACH CLIENT EXPERIENCING DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, WHETHER THEY LIVE IN THE COMMUNITY OR IN THE SHELTER, IS ASSIGNED A CASE MANAGER, WHICH YWCA REFERS TO AS "ADVOCATE," WHO WALKS WITH THE CLIENT FROM CRISIS TO SELF-SUFFICIENCY. THE CHANGE TO THE SUCCESS SERVICES MODEL REFLECTS YWCA'S COMMITMENT TO TRAUMA-INFORMED CARE; PREVIOUSLY, CLIENTS CHANGED CASE MANAGERS MULTIPLE TIMES THROUGHOUT THEIR JOURNEY, WHICH MADE CLIENTS HAVE TO REBUILD CASE MANAGER RELATIONSHIPS AND RETELL THEIR STORY, CAUSING RE-TRAUMATIZATION AND CREATING BARRIERS TO SELF- SUFFICIENCY. NOW YWCA CLIENTS EXPERIENCING DOMESTIC VIOLENCE WILL WORK WITH THE SAME ADVOCATE THORUGHOUT THEIR TIME IN SERVICES. IN 2020, 590 INDIVIDUALS WERE RECEIVED ADVOCACY SERVICES. ADVOCATES ALSO FACILITATE SUPPORT GROUPS IN OUR SIX COUNTY SERVICE AREA. GROUPS MEET WITHIN JAILS IN NORTHEAST INDIANA, AND A HOMELESS SHELTER/RECOVERY HOME. THESE GROUP SESSIONS HAD 44 PARTICIPANTS IN 2020 BEFORE CEASING DUE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC.
