CATHOLIC CHARITIES PROVIDES AND ADVOCATES FOR THE PHYSICAL, EMOTIONAL, AND SOCIAL NEEDS OF THE POOR AND VULNERABLE. WE FOCUS OUR ATTENTION ON PEOPLE (INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES) WHO LIVE IN POVERTY AND ARE MARGINALIZED IN OTHER WAYS. OUR GOAL IS TO STABILIZE THE CURRENT SITUATION AND TO WORK WITH THEM TO CREATE A PLAN FOR A BRIGHTER FUTURE.
CATHOLIC CHARITIES UPLIFTS THE POOR AND VULNERABLE TO CREATE A MORE JUST AND COMPASSIONATE SOCIETY TO PEOPLE OF ALL FAITHS.
EMERGENCY SERVICES THE EMERGENCY SERVICES PROGRAM ASSISTS INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES IN A FINANCIAL CRISIS WHO MAY BE FACING PROBLEMS SUCH AS POSSIBLE HOMELESSNESS, LOSS OF UTILITY SERVICE, OR OTHER FINANCIAL HARDSHIPS. A FOOD PANTRY, OUT OF A REGIONAL OFFICE, DISTRIBUTES FOOD TO STRUGGLING FAMILIES TWICE A MONTH. A HUD CERTIFIED SELF-SUFFICIENCY WORKSHOP IS GIVEN WEEKLY IN VARIOUS LOCATIONS TO HELP CLIENTS DEVELOP A PLAN FOR FUTURE FINANCIAL STABILITY.
GATEWAY (PERMANENT SUPPORTIVE HOUSING) THE GATEWAY PROGRAM SERVES INDIVIDUALS WHO HAVE BEEN CHRONICALLY HOMELESS AND DIAGNOSED WITH A SEVERE MENTAL ILLNESS AND/OR SUBSTANCE ABUSE AS DIAGNOSED BY A PSYCHIATRIST. THE PROGRAM USES THE HOUSING FIRST MODEL. THIS MEANS CLIENTS ARE HOUSED FIRST AND THEN ARE ENCOURAGED TO ADDRESS THE ISSUES THAT MIGHT HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO OR CAUSED THEIR HOMELESSNESS. THE CLIENT IS SUPPORTED BY THE CATHOLIC CHARITIES CASE MANAGER FROM THE BEGINNING OF THIS PROCESS, THROUGH MOVE-IN, AND BEYOND.
WOMEN'S CARE CENTER THE WOMEN'S CARE CENTER PROGRAM PROVIDES FREE, CONFIDENTIAL COUNSELING, SUPPORT AND EDUCATION TO WOMEN FACING UNPLANNED PREGNANCIES. FREE PREGNANCY TESTING AND ULTRASOUNDS HELP DETERMINE VIABILITY AND DATES.
