Organizations Filed Purposes: FOCUS ON ISSUES RELATED TO THE HEALTH AND WELL-BEING OF ALL HOOSIER CHILDREN AND STRIVE TO BE THE GO-TO RESOURCE FOR QUESTIONS RELATED TO CHILDRENS HEALTH AND ISSUES RELATED TO THE PRACTICE OF PEDIATRICS.

THE INDIANA CHAPTER OF THE AMERICAN ACADEMY OF PEDIATRICS IS COMMITTED TO THE ATTAINMENT OF OPTIMAL PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND SOCIAL HEALTH FOR ALL INFANTS, CHILDREN, ADOLESCENTS AND YOUNG ADULTS.

INCREASE HPV VACCINE UPTAKE IN THE STATE OF INDIANA THROUGH GRANTS, PROVIDER TRAININGS, AND COLLABORATION WITH OTHER STAKEHOLDERS. THERE WERE 485 HPV VACCINE DOSES ADMINISTERED AT IUPUI CLINICS DURING OUR INTERVENTION PERIOD. DURING THE MATCHED PERIOD 1 YEAR PRIOR TO THIS INTERVENTION, ONLY 66 HPV VACCINE DOSES WERE ADMINISTERED. THIS IS THEREFORE A 634.85% INCREASE IN HPV VACCINATION UPTAKE DURING OUR INTERVENTION PERIOD COMPARED TO THE 1 YEAR PRIOR MATCHED PERIOD. INCREASED HPV VACCINE UPTAKE IN THE PRIMARY CARE SETTING THROUGH PROVIDER TRAINING ON HOW TO MAKE A STRONG RECOMMENDATION FOR THE VACCINE. DEVELOPED NOVEL SOLUTIONS TO RASING HPV RATES BY BREAKING DOWN BARRIERS AMONG STAKEHOLDERS IN THE STATE AND FOSTERING COLLABORATION ON NEW IDEAS.

HELP LOWER INDIANA'S INFANT MORTALITY RATE. HELP REDUCE SMOKING RATES WHICH CONTRIBUTE TO INFANT MORTALITY BY PROVIDING COUNSELING AND MATERIALS TO EXPECTING PARENTS AND PARENTS OF YOUNG CHILDREN. INAAP RECEIVED A 120,000 GRANT FROM THE INDIANA STATE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH TO WORK ON TOBACCO CESSATION. THROUGH THE GRANT, INAAP HAS IMPLEMENTED THE CEASE PROGRAM IN PEDIATRIC PRACTICES IN INDIANA. THE CEASE PROGRAM, OR CLINICAL EFFORT AGAINST SECONDHAND SMOKE EXPOSURE, IS AN EVIDENCE-BASED AND WELL- RESEARCHED INTERVENTION TO HELP PARENTS OF YOUNG CHILDREN QUIT SMOKING. THE GRANT RECEIVED BY INAAP ALLOWED OUR ORGANIZATION TO HIRE A FULL-TIME COORDINATOR FOR THE PROGRAM THAT HELPS WITH IMPLEMENTATION INTO PEDIATRIC PRACTICES AND SUPPORTS THEIR ONGOING EFFORTS.

INCREASE AND SUPPORT PROGRAMS IN THE STATE THAT FOSTER EARLY BRAIN DEVELOPMENT. INAAP WAS AWARDED A 3-YEAR GRANT FOR 210,000 TO SUPPORT A REACH OUT AND READ COORDINATOR. FURTHER, INAAP WORKED WITH A MAJOR HOSPITAL SYSTEM IN THE STATE TO SECURE AN ADDITIONAL 240,000 TO BUY BOOKS FOR THE REACH OUT AND READ PROGRAM. THE MONEY HAS ALLOWED INAAP TO HIRE A FULL- TIME STATEWIDE REACH OUT AND READ COORDINATOR WHO WORKS WITH EXISITING REACH OUT AND READ SITES TO ENSURE FIDELITY OF THE REACH OUT AND READ MODEL, AND ALSO HELPS NEW SITES GET UP AND RUNNING. FURTHER, THE COORDINATOR SEEKS FUNDING ON BEHALF OF INDIVIDUAL SITES TO ENSURE SUSTAINABILITY OF THE PROGRAM IN FUTURE YEARS.
