Organizations Filed Purposes: Promote unity and well being amount Indiana's American Indians, Alaska Natives, and other people indigenous to the United States through personal, economic, social, health outreach, and cultural education development; and to promote the strengthening of mutual understanding and respect among Indian and non-Indian people in Indiana.

Workforce Investment Act Program Services include outreach, intake, eligibility certification, job search, and placement assistance. We work closely with the other work force development providers including the WorkOne/OneStop service providers. Our intensive services include comprehensive assessment, career counseling and planning, work experience, on-the-job training, and supporting services.With these service in place, we also work with manufacturing, industrial, pharmacy organizations as well at the construction industry. We work with and share services with temporary placement organizations, job clubs and have several companies that send their employment needs directly through emails. With all these procedures in place, we have been able to grow our organization placementThe Circle of Wellness Program is funded by the Indiana Minority Health Coalition. We provide health education; screenings including glucose, blood pressure, body mass index, and cholesterol; cultural competency, and referral services to American Indianas/Alaska Natives in Indiana.We have been participating with various health organizations that allow us to collect health data on the NA population in Indiana. Results are shared with the Indiana State Department of Health which publishes a quarterly minority health status report and gives the information to the Governor. Several of the collection processes are surveys. We have gained the reputation that if you are a researcher, institution, insurance companies and other health related groups, that you have to go thru the American Indian Center of Indiana to collect the information you need. Also, participating with these surveys also have a large impact on our financial outlook. We average between $8,000 to $20,000 in unrestricted funds for doing the surveys. Though this activity does not directly affect our WIOA program, but with these unrestricted funds, we have been able to supplement our WIOA contract and have not had to cut our participant expenditures for services. We have been able to still grow our WIOA program, even though our WIOA grant dollars have been reduced by several thousands of dollars.We also particate in activities that support cultural competency which are offer in many different venues to include schools, colleges, libraries, and pow wows among other places.In 2018, we became partners in the National Urban Indian Family Coalition as a new grantee. Our efforts with this grant are dedicated to promoting civic engagement and increasing voter turnout in the Native American community of Indiana. In 2020, our focus will be on a complete count of Native people in Indiana for the 2020 Census in addition to the civic engagement piece. Since 2017, we have also increased our outreach to the community by providing more gatherings, workshops, collaborative events, and more forms of assistance. We have developed a food pantry that continues to grow in size. And in the coming year, we will be partnering with mental health organizations to bring trauma healing and supportive services to Native Americans struggling with domestic violence, substance abuse, and mental health issues.
