Exodus Refugee Immigration is dedicated to the protection of human rights by serving the resettlement needs of refugees and other displaced people fleeing persecution, injustice and war by welcoming them to Indiana.
Reception and Placement Programs - Involves helping a refugee family begin a new life in the U.S. by assisting them with housing, food, clothing and household goods for an initial resettlement period; registering children for school and adults for English classes; taking the family to appointments with medical providers and social service agencies; and helping the adults find work. Exodus provides cash assistance to each refugee family to help with initial resettlement expenses. Exodus also provides staff to help identify community resources, develops training materials, and performs public relations and implements sustainable outreach programs for potential voluntary resettlement partners. Exodus collaborates with legal service providers to provide a no cost or reduced cost option of receiving legal advice that they might otherwise not seek and thereby jeopardize the chance of a successful and legal transition, which is in the best interest of the refugee, the government and the community in which the refugees live. Exodus established a mental health program to provide psychoeducation, individual and family services and referrals to appropriate mental health services. Exodus established a language Cultural Orientation and Readiness for Employment program that offers multiple classes each week for refugee clients to learn practical; skills to achieve self-sufficiency.
