IN LIGHT OF COVID-19, OUR TOP SERVICE ACTIVITY WAS RECOGNITION OF STAFF FOR WHAT WE CALLED "WAYNE SUPERHEROIC" FEATS. BETWEEN MARCH AND JUNE 30, WE RECOGNIZED 530 SMALL AND LARGE ACTS OF KINDNESS, COURAGE, AND CREATIVITY THAT HELPED CHILDREN IN WAYNE TOWNSHIP STAY ENGAGED ACADEMICALLY. WITH A LONG HISTORY OF RECOGNIZING OUTSTANDING STUDENTS AND STAFF, THIS INITIATIVE WAS AN IMPROMPTU BUT EXCELLENT INITIATIVE TO MATCH OUR HISTORY AND CURRENT CAPACITY. STAFF, IN PARTICULAR, WAS OUR DESIRED AUDIENCE, BUT WE ALSO RECOGNIZED COMMUNITY MEMBERS, STUDENTS, AND ORGANIZATIONS THAT MADE A DIFFERENCE IN KEEPING STUDENTS ENGAGED. THIS PROGRAM STARTED APRIL 9, 2020 AND IS ONGOING. INDIVIDUALS WERE NOMINATED AND THE WAYNE TOWNSHIP EDUCATION FOUNDATION RECOGNIZED THEM WITH A PERSONALIZED LETTER AND TOKEN OF APPRECIATION FOR THEIR ABOVE AND BEYOND EFFORTS.
