To coordinate and manage behavioral health services for children, adults and families.
Behavioral Healthcare Management, Inc. BHMI was created on behalf of its Indiana Community Mental Health Center Corporate Members as a vehicle to work to build mutually beneficial partnerships with Indiana Medicaid Care Management Organizations CMOs and Managed Care Organizations MCOs. BHMI has focused on two related priorities. The first is to find ways to partner with CMOs or MCOs to achieve reductions in administrative overhead expenses for providers that could also benefit CMO or MCO partners. For CMHC providers who have historically served large numbers of Medicaid Members, the rapid implementation of three separate managed Medicaid programs with seven contracted CMO or MCO vendors has resulted in a significant increase in providers administrative overhead expense with no increase in funding to offset those additional expenses. The second BHMI priority has been to find ways for BHMI Members to work with CMOs and MCOs in addressing high-priority Office of Medicaid Policy and Planning OMPP initiatives to improve efficacy of services.
