Organizations Filed Purposes:
To connect those who are caring and compassionate to those in our community most in need in an atmosphere of mutual respect. We do this through our food pantry, soup kitchen, and free store.
Mishawaka Food Pantry gave out food to 6,033 families, with 20,070 men, women, and children, providing them enough food for approximately 120,420 meals. Hot lunches were served at the pantry to 15,615 people. The value of clothing given out to 13,534 people was $225,535, including some of whom also received housewares, furniture, and appliances. Additional services, including showers and phone and warming centers were provided as well. Bus passes and gas cards provided 1,077 days of transportation valued at $1,135. Volunteers gave 4,498 hours of service valued at $79,207 which is not reflected in revenues or expenses. Many of our volunteers had received government assistance and were working to "pay back" what they received, boosting their self-esteem while providing a service to people in need. The federal government helped by providing 104,168 pounds of food valued at over $171,877, which is not reported on pages 9 and 10 since it was consigned product. Through a Wells Fargo grant of $31,000 and a partnership with the Salvation Army, we fed 4,784 children with a weekend backpack program. This program provided 19,136 meals.
