HECC's mission is to provide K-12 technology leaders and educators with timely information and resources to improve communication, efficiency and the integration of technology.
HECC offers K-12 technology leaders/educators an annual conference presenting technology solutions and resources focusing on the K-12 environment. This is a three day conference averaging 1,000 attendees that focuses on the technical infrastructure of the K-12 environment. Two-thirds of the attendees are K-12 technology personnel; one third of the attendees are administrators and classroom teachers. The conference is a vital resource for Indiana K-12 educators because of its affordability and accessibility. The conference has 184 vendor booths set up to display various K-12 hardware/software services. Sessions are presented by volunteers from school districts, vendors and HECC board members. Attendees who come for 2 or 3 days receive that year's selected conference technology tool. Several sessions are geared towards using this tool in a K-12 learning environment. Previous conference technology tools have been a Samsung Chromebook, a Sphero II Robotic Ball paired with a Toshiba 7" Encore Tablet, a LEGO Mindstorm Robotic Kit, an Amazon Echo, a Ricoh Theta 360 Camera, and a Lenovo VR Solo Headset. There was no 2020 conference tool. The 2020 conference was cancelled due to COVID-19.
