Organizations Filed Purposes:
TO FOSTER NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL AMATEUR SPORTS COMPETITION IN ALL ICE SPORTS, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO FIGURE SKATING, SPEED SKATING AND HOCKEY, PRIMARILY BY CONDUCTING NATIONAL OR INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION IN SUCH SPORTS AND BY SUPPORTING AND DEVELOPING AMATEUR ATHLETES FOR NATIONAL OR INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION IN SUCH SPORTS.
PROVIDES FOR THE PHYSICAL AND EDUCATIONAL NEEDS OF BOTH AMATEUR AND PROFESSIONAL ATHLETES IN FIGURE SKATING, HOCKEY AND SPEED SKATING.
THE FIGURE SKATING PROGRAM DEVELOPS SKATERS OF ALL AGES, GENDER, AND SKILL LEVEL. PARTICIPANTS MAY BEGIN AT AGE 3 YEARS AND CONTINUE THROUGH AND INTO THEIR 80S. IN THE PAST FISCAL YEAR, INDIANA WORLD SKATING ACADEMY'S STRONG FIGURE SKATING PROGRAM ATTRACTED SKATERS FROM FRANCE, RUSSIA AND AUSTRALIA. IWSA'S SENIOR PAIR TEAM CAPTURED SEVENTH PLACE IN THE JUNIOR WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS AND REPRESENTED THE US IN AN INTERNATIONAL SKATING UNION JUNIOR GRAND PRIX EVENT. THE NOVICE PAIR TEAM WON THE PEWTER MEDAL IN THE US NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS AND WAS NAMED TO THE US DEVELOPMENTAL TEAM. THE SUMMER FIGURE SKATING PROGRAM ATTRACTS PARTICIPANTS FROM NEARLY HALF OF THE STATES OF THE UNITED STATES AND SEVERAL FOREIGN COUNTRIES WHO WISH TO TRAIN WITH ISWA'S PROFESSIONAL SKATERS ASSOCIATION MASTER RATED COACHES. THE LOCAL FIGURE SKATING CLUB CONDUCTS TWO COMPETITIONS A YEAR. INDY CHALLENGE, A PAIR COMPETITION, IS THE LARGEST COMPETITION FOR PAIR TEAMS IN THE WORLD AND THE COMPETITION WHERE USFS SELECTS PAIR TEAMS TO REPRESENT THE US AT INTERNATIONAL COMPETITIONS.
THE HOCKEY PROGRAM PROVIDES OPPORTUNITIES FOR PLAYERS FROM MINI-MITES (AGE 6 AND 7) THROUGH ADULTS IN THEIR 70S. IWSA HOSTS APPROXIMATELY 12 HOCKEY TOURNAMENTS ANNUALLY. TEAMS COME FROM THROUGHOUT THE MIDWEST, AND THE INDIANA ICE CAMP ATTRACTS PLAYERS FROM ACROSS THE UNITED STATES.
