Unity Gardens has over 40 gleaning gardens providing an opportunity for everyone to have access to fresh produce and berries.
Free Educational offerings include: 1. Gardening Classes to the public on growing gardens,urban chickens, composting and more 2. Free Garden Camp connecting over 150 children to fresh produce and their natural enviroment. 3. After School cooking and nutritious snack program. 4. Garden tours and volunteer opportunities educate the community and visitors about the importance of growing food for our local community to ease the effect of a food desert. over 2000 volunteers visited and worked in the gardens
Unity Gardens farm to market continues to grow year round food and Honey from the Hood hives produce honey and related products for sale at the South Bend Farmers Market and local events to support the free food gardens, open garden and help supply local soup kitchens and homeless centers with fresh vegetables.
