TO RESTORE, PRESERVE, DEVELOP AND INCREASE THE BIRDS, FISH, GAME, FORESTRY, WILDFLOWERS AND ALL OTHER WILDLIFE RESOURCES OF THE STATE OF LOUISIANA.
CONSERVATION EDUCATION, REPRESENTATION AND OUTREACH. THIS IS THE MAIN THRUST OF LWF'S WORK. THROUGH THIS PROGRAM, LWF CO-SPONSORS EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES FOR HUNTERS, ANGLERS AND OTHER OUTDOOR ENTHUSIASTS TO EXPLAIN HOW TO CONSERVE THE NATURAL ENVIRONMENT AND WILDLIFE IN LOUISIANA. LWF EXHIBITED AT SEVERAL OUTDOOR EVENTS TO PROVIDE EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS. LWF MONITORED AND POSTED REPORTS ON VARIOUS LEGISLATIVE PROPOSALS AND AGENCY ACTIONS THAT AFFECTED NATURAL RESOURCES AND THEIR MANAGEMENT AND THE QUALITY OF THE ENVIRONMENT. LWF EDUCATED CITIZENS ON THE NEED FOR COASTAL RESTORATION AND CURRENT STATE PLANS VIA EMAIL AND NEWSLETTER AND THROUGH PRESENTATIONS AT CIVIC ORGANIZATIONS.
CONSERVATION LEADERSHIP CORPS ENGAGED 25 SELECTED UNDERGRADUATE COLLEGE STUDENTS FROM ACROSS THE STATE TO DEVELOP AND MENTOR THEIR LEADERSHIP IN CONSERVATION. SEVEN VOLUNTEERS AND 25 PRESENTERS SUPPORTED THE PROGRAM THAT BEGAN IN THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2018-2019 AND CONTINUED IN 2019-2020.
LWF CONSERVATION ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS PROGRAM. LWF SPONSORS AN ANNUAL PROGRAM TO RECOGNIZE SIGNIFICANT CONSERVATION ACHIEVEMENT BY LOUISIANA CITIZENS TO PROTECT LOUISIANA'S ENVIRONMENT AND RECREATIONAL ENJOYMENT. LWF SOLICITS NOMINATIONS FOR NINE CATEGORIES, SELECTS RECIPIENTS WITH AN INDEPENDENT PANEL OF JUDGES AND HOSTS A BANQUET TO PRESENT AWARDS. SEVEN CITIZENS WERE RECOGNIZED WITH CONSERVATION ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS IN 2019.
