The mission of the Arts Council of New Orleans is to support and expand the opportunities for diverse artistic expression and to bring the community together in celebration of our rich multicultural heritage.
Place Transforming Landscape Emphasizing design solutions and a heightened awareness of the built environment. Specific programming includes - YOUTH SOLUTIONS Aiming at addressing youth trauma, neighborhood blight, and under-investment in local artists as change agents, the initiative will enable the Arts Council to leverage a core asset - artists - to implement neighborhood projects designed for our primary future asset youth. PERCENT FOR ART Supported through funding generated by 1 of eligible municipal capital bonds, the program includes artwork acquisition for the city's collection, community outreach and education, and maintenance of the Percent collection. Supporting participatory arts, youth arts education, and events that inspire and connect. Specific programming includes - ARTS MARKET Monthly free open-air marketplace of artwork made by New Orleans and Gulf Coast artists. LUNA FETE Light up NOLA Arts - A visionary initiative to utilize our city's iconic architecture as the canvas for contemporary light installation, motion graphics, and video mapping practices to create a series of artistic large-scale outdoor architectural projection mapping installations across the city.
Artists Investing in our Cultural Assets Professionalizing the capabilities of local artists and organizations while seeking markets and exchange opportunities. TRAINING & WORKSHOPS Program provides services to individual artists, start-up art businesses, and arts non-profits through business and career planning and business development workshops. COMMUNITY ARTS GRANTS Administration of the City of New Orleans Arts Grants program providing much-needed operation support for Orleans-based arts and cultural organizations and support for arts projects that have a community impact. DECENTRALIZED ARTS FUND - Acting as the regional distributing agency for the LA Division of the Arts. It serves Jefferson, Orleans, Plaquemines, St. Charles, St. James, St. John the Baptist, and Terrebonne Parishes. Funds are provided on a per capita basis to be used for arts activities that take palce in that parish or have a primary impact on the residents of that parish.
