Organizations Filed Purposes: CBNO works to create equity and opportunity for all New Orleanians by developing community leaders, fostering civic engagement, and advocating for open, effective, accountable government.

WATER MANAGEMENT PROJECT: In order to reduce flooding and subsidence risks, increase public safety and create new economic opportunities, CBNO took the lead in convening the founding members of the Greater New Orleans Water Collaborative. Bringing together individuals and organizations across all sectors, the Water Collaborative is guided by the vision and principles of the Urban Stormwater Plan. It engages and educates community members; provides curricula and training in schools; researched and develops water management policy proposals; connects water management design and build professionals with public and private sector entities to implement water management projects; and advocates for best water management practices in all public and private sector projects.

MLF: THE METROPOLITAN LEADERSHIP FORUM (BBMLF) SEEKS TO IDENTIFY EMERGING COMMUNITY LEADERS AND STIMULATE THEIR INTEREST IN COMMUNITY SERVICE. THE PURPOSE IS TO PROMOTE ANALYSIS AND OPPORTUNITIES TO EXPLORE KEY METROPOLITAN ISSUES, ADDRESSING THESE ISSUES AT SYSTEMATIC LEVELS FUNDAMENTAL TO THE APPROACH OF CBNO/MAC. OPPORTUNITY FOR SOCIALIZING OVER DINNERS AND THEN ENGAGEMENT IN OPEN DISCUSSION AMONG THEMSELVES AND WITH EXPERTS IN THE VARIOUS FIELDS, THE BBMLF ENCOURAGES COMMITTMENT TO SOLVING PROBLEMS AND OVERCOMING THE BARRIERS THAT DIVIDE OUR COMMUNITY. IN 2019, THE BBMLF HELD 12 SESSIONS AND GRADUATED 33 PARTICIPANTS.

PEOPLES BUDGET PROJECT: THE PEOPLES BUDGET PROJECT WORKS TO INFORM COMMUNITY MEMBERS ABOUT THE CITYS BUDGETING PROCESS AND HOW IT CONNECTS TO THEIR DAILY LIVES. GUIDED BY A STEERING COMMITTEE OF RESIDENTS AND REPRESENTATIVES OF OTHER COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS, IT SEEKS TO CREATE MEANINGFUL OPPORTUNITIES FOR COMMUNITY MEMBERS TO PROVIDE INPUT INTO THE CITY BUDGET, AND ULTIMATELY TO BRING PARTICIPATORY BUDGETING TO NEW ORLEANS.
