ORIGINAL CONTENT AND OUTREACH. THE PRIMARY TOOL FOR OUR ORGANIZATION'S EDUCATION ACTIVITIES IS THROUGH OUTREACH AND AUDIENCE ENGAGEMENT ON OUR WEBSITE AND SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS. WITH THE FIRST YEAR OF OUR NEW SITE, WE PUBLISHED OVER 147 ORIGINAL ARTICLES WHILE MANAGING SOCIAL MEDIA ACCOUNTS WITH NEARLY 100,000 FOLLOWERS AND REACHING OVER 3 MILLION PEOPLE.
VIDEO PRODUCTION. TO BETTER ENGAGE OUR AUDIENCE, WE UTILIZED CARTOONS, PARODY, AND OTHER EDUCATIONAL VIDEOS. WE PRODUCED 20 VIDEOS THAT WERE VIEWED OVER 150,000 TIMES FROM POP CULTURE PARODIES TO EXPLAIN BUDGET DEBATES TO 90 SPOOFS EXPLAINING THE COMPLEX FINANCIAL CONCEPTS, TO ANIMATED EXPLAINERS ON NATIONAL DEBT AND UNFUNDED LIABILITIES. THESE VIEOS PROVIDE CLEAR AND ENGAGE IN CONTENT TO HELP FURTHER OUR MISSION.
WE RAN OUR SECOND ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP COMPETITION AND AWARDED FOUR SCHOLARSHIPS TO COLLEGE STUDENTS. THE WINNERS OF THE ESSAY AND VIDEO COMPETITIONS WON $1,000 SCHOLARSHIPS WHILE THE RUNNERS-UP IN EACH CATEGORY WON $500 IN SCHOLARSHIP MONEY. THE VIDEO (MAXIMUM 5 MINUTES) OR ESSAY (MAXIMUM 2500 WORDS) WAS ON ONE OR A COMBINATION OF THE FOLLOWING TOPICS WITHIN OUR MISSION: 1) GENERATIONAL THEFT: HOW THE NATIONAL DEBT, UNFUNDED LIABILITIES, AND GENERATIONAL THEFT A?ECTS YOUNGER GENERATIONS; 2) GOVERNMENT ACCOUNTABILITY: THE IMPORTANCE OF TRANSPARENCY AND OVERSIGHT TO HOLD THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT ACCOUNTABLE; 3) IMPORTANCE OF A WELL-INFORMED PUBLIC THROUGH OBJECTIVE INFORMATION: THE IMPORTANCE OF YOUNG AMERICANS ENGAGING IN AMERICAN POLITICS, UNDERSTANDING OUR HISTORY, CIVICS, AND FREE ENTERPRISE SYSTEM, AND THE VALUE OF A WELL-INFORMED PUBLIC.
