Organizations Filed Purposes: KID SMART'S MISSION IS TO ENGAGE CHILDREN AND EDUCATORS IN DYNAMIC, CREATIVE, AND RELEVANT LEARNING THROUGH THE ARTS. WE DO THIS THROUGH INTEGRATING THE ARTS INTO PUBLIC SCHOOLS, MAKING THEM MORE JOYFUL AND EFFECTIVE PLACES TO LEARN.

CREATIVE SCHOOLS INCLUDES WORK IN ELEVEN ORLEANS PARISH PUBLIC SCHOOLS TRANSFORMING CLASSROOMS THROUGH ARTS INTEGRATION. SCHOOLS RECEIVE COLLABORATIVE ARTIST RESIDENCIES AND COMPREHENSIVE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR CLASSROOM TEACHERS. DURING COLLABORATIVE RESIDENCIES, TEACHING ARTISTS AND TEACHERS CO-PLAN AND CO-TEACH INSTRUCTIONAL UNITS, USING COMMON CORE STANDARDS FOR BOTH ARTS AND ACADEMIC CONTENT. RESIDENCIES LAST FOR THE FULL YEAR AND EACH OF OUR 3,000+ STUDENTS WORKED WITH A TEACHING ARTIST AN AVERAGE OF 30 - 60 HOURS. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES INCLUDE AXIS, A FULL-YEAR, INTENSIVE ARTS INTEGRATION PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM FOR TEAMS FROM EACH OF THE CREATIVE SCHOOLS, INDIVIDUAL COACHING OF TEACHERS IN THEIR CLASSROOMS AND FULL-FACULTY WORKSHOPS.

CONTRACTS - PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND ENRICHMENT: LED BY KID SMART STAFF, PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SESSIONS IN ARTS INTEGRATION RANGE FROM A 60 MINUTE WORKSHOP TO WEEK-LONG TRAINING INSTITUTES AND CAN BE INDIVIDUALIZED FOR SCHOOLS/DISTRICTS TO INCLUDE CLASSROOM MODELING, COACHING, LESSON PLAN DEVELOPMENT AND TEACHING ARTIST TRAINING. THROUGHOUT THE NATION, KID SMART PROVIDED SUPPORT TO MORE THAN 300 TEACHERS AND CLASSROOMS THROUGH BEST PRACTICES IN THESE HIGHLY EFFECTIVE AND IMPACTFUL WORKSHOPS. SCHOOLS ALSO HIRE KID SMART'S PROFESSIONAL TEACHING ARTISTS FOR AFTER SCHOOL AND SCHOOL-DAY ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS. THESE ARTISTS FOCUS LARGELY ON THE ART FORM, AND INCLUDE ARTS INTEGRATION STRATEGIES IN THEIR INSTRUCTION.

NOAEA: THE NEW ORLEANS ARTS EDUCATION ALLIANCE (ARTSEDALL) HAS THE MISSION OF ENSURING EVERY CHILD IN NEW ORLEANS HAS ACCESS TO MEANINGFUL, HIGH-QUALITY ARTS EDUCATION. ARTSEDALL WORKS TOWARD THIS MISSION BY ENGAGING IN DISTRICT AND STATE-LEVEL ARTS ADVOCACY, INFORMING POLICY, AND CONNECTING SCHOOLS WITH ARTS PARTNERSHIPS, RESOURCES AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT. DURING FISCAL YEAR 2019, ARTSEDALL PARTICIPATED IN CONVENING AND CAPACITY BUILDING BY SERVING AS A YOUTH DEVELOPMENT INTERMEDIARY INFORMING ORLEANS PARISH SCHOOL BOARD, THE MAYOR'S OFFICE AND THE STATE DEPT. OF EDUCATION ON K-12 ARTS EDUCATION NEEDS.
