THE ORGANIZATION HOSTS THE ALLSTATE SUGAR BOWL, AN ANNUAL COLLEGIATE FOOTBALL POST-SEASON BOWL GAME. THE ALLSTATE SUGAR BOWL IS ONE OF THE OLDEST BOWL GAMES IN THE COUNTRY, HOSTING ITS 86TH ANNUAL COLLEGIATE BOWL GAME ON JANUARY 1, 2020. 55,211 SPECTATORS ATTENDED THE JANUARY 1, 2020 EVENT, WITH APPROXIMATELY 64.7 PERCENT OF THE ATTENDEES COMING FROM OUTSIDE THE GREATER NEW ORLEANS METROPOLITAN AREA. THE ALLSTATE SUGAR BOWL AND RELATED FESTIVITIES PROVIDED AN ESTIMATED ECONOMIC IMPACT TO THE NEW ORLEANS AND LOUISIANA ECONOMIES OF $120.66 MILLION DURING THE 2019-2020 FISCAL YEAR.
THE ORGANIZATION CONTRIBUTED FINANCIAL SUPPORT OF $5+ MILLION TO AID THE NEW ORLEANS COLLEGE FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP HOST COMMITTEE, INC. IN ITS EFFORTS RELATED TO HOSTING ALL ASPECTS OF THE 2020 CFP NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME. ABSENT THIS LEVEL OF SUPPORT, NEW ORLEANS WOULD NOT HAVE WON THE RIGHT TO HOST THE 2020 CFP NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME, WHICH GENERATED AN ECONOMIC IMPACT OF OVER $142 MILLION.
THE ORGANIZATION SPONSORS NEARLY 60 AMATEUR SPORTING EVENTS IN LOUISIANA AND AROUND THE GREATER NEW ORLEANS METROPOLITAN AREA. TO PROMOTE AMATEUR SPORTS IN THE AREA, THE SUGAR BOWL SUPPORTED STATE AND LOCAL ASSOCIATIONS FOR VOLLEYBALL, CROSS COUNTRY, TRACK, GOLF, REGATTA, LACROSSE, SOCCER, SWIMMING, BASKETBALL, PREP FOOTBALL, AND TENNIS. IN ADDITION, THE ORGANIZATION SPONSORS THE MANNING AWARD, THE NATIONAL FOOTBALL FOUNDATION, AND THE LOUISIANA HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION (LHSAA) EVENT AWARDS. THE SUM TOTAL OF THE ECONOMIC IMPACT FOR ALL SUGAR BOWL ACTIVITIES WAS $221.13 MILLION DURING THE 2019-2020 FISCAL YEAR.
