Organizations Filed Purposes:
Villalobos Rescue Center partners newly released inmates and as parolees they work with dogs within our animal shelter to help prepare them for adoption. As this process takes place it is the hope that these parolees learn compassion, patience, and responsibility thus reducing the rate of recidivism within the penal system.
Villalobos Rescue Center partners newly released parolees with dogs (primarily Pit Bulls) in an effort to teach responsibility, compassion and a sense of respect for life.These parolees assist in preparing these dogs for adoption.
Patient care, including the veterinary bills for the rescued dogs and some cats, and occasional livestock, as well as the outreach medical care provided to residents of Assumption Parish for their dogs which includes spaying and neutering as well to reduce the population of unwanted pets. Also includes the housing setups for dogs, cats and now livestock, as well as employee caretaker housing and payroll. Our largest expense by far is our patient care.
Adoption expenses, which includes training and preparing the dog for adoption, the costs to transport the dog to his new home, including the costs of travel and time. We do not fly the dogs, so transporting to states as far as California require rental vehicles, hotels, and meals. We have increased our partnerships with additional rescue groups in states like Minnesota, Nevada and also a prison dog program in Arkansas, all of which increased our travel expenses but increased our dogs getting homes.
