Student support is a top priority. In FY20, the Organization granted over $9.5 million to the University of North Dakota to be used to award scholarships to students in the fiscal year. The student support priority to increase endowment support for scholarships will enable the University to recruit and retain top students.During 2020, the worldwide coronavirus pandemic impacted national and global economies. The Organization is closely monitoring its operations, liquidity and capital resources and is actively working to minimize the current and future impact of this unprecedented situation. All fundraising events occurring after March 2020 including the Champions Ball for FY20. Additionally, in FY20, we started 2 fundraising initiatives to support students during COVID. The UND Angel Fund - https://undalumni.org/angel was established to assist students that due to present circumstances are affected in ways that are beyond their control. The UND Angel Fund provides financial help for students so these kinds of challenges aren't a barrier to completing their education. Total FY20 scholarships: $112,608The Open Door Scholarship - https://undalumni.org/opendoor was established to provide tuition assistance to help students finish their degrees. UND Student Finance will take into account the unique financial situation of every student and award an average of $1,000 to those who qualify. None of the scholarships were paid out until FY21 but the fundraising began in FY20.
The Organization provided $11 million in direct and indirect support to the University of North Dakota for faculty initiatives and campus improvement projects as directed by donors' gift designations, and for the University's priority needs during the past fiscal year.
