ENRICH THE JAMESTOWN AREA COMMUNITY THROUGH THE ARTS
EXHIBITIONS: EXHIBITIONS CHANGE EVERY 4-6 WEEKS IN THE GALLERY; ARE FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY 9AM TO 5PM AND SATURDAYS 10A TO 2P AND BY APPOINTMENT ON SUNDAYS. EXHIBITS FEATURE LOCAL, REGIONAL, NATIONAL ARTISTS AND RANGE FROM FOLK AND TRADITIONAL ARTISTS TO PROFESSIONALS. STAFF, CURATOR AND ARTIST GUIDED TOURS EDUCATE THE COMMUNITY AND PROVIDE ENRICHMENT FOR SCHOOL CLASSES AND THEIR EDUCATORS. EXHIBITING ARTISTS PROVIDE WORKSHOPS FOR AREA ARTISTS AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS.
PERFORMING ARTS: LOCAL, REGIONAL AND NATIONAL MUSICIANS PRESENT ON THE ARTS CENTER STAGE. TOURING THEATRE COMPANIES PRESENT PLAYS ON SITE AS WELL AS OFF SITE LOCATIONS. THE ORGANIZATION PAYS TO BUS STUDENTS TO SEE THESE PERFORMANCES. COMMUNITY THEATRE PRESENTS TWO TO THREE PRODUCTIONS EACH YEAR ON THE STAGE. HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS IN DRAMA CLASSES, DANCE RECITALS AND GUITAR RECITALS ALSO UTILIZE THE STAGE FOR THEIR PERFORMANCES. THE ARTS CENTER HOSTS MONTHLY OPEN MIC NIGHTS FOR PERFORMERS OF ALL TALENTS AND SKILL LEVELS. THE ORGANIZATION HIRES FOLK, TRADITIONAL, MUSICAL AND VISUAL ARTISTS TO WORK WITH RESIDENTS IN TWO ELDER CARE FACILITIES AS WELL AS GIVE PERFORMANCES TO CONFINED POPULATIONS IN THEIR LOCATIONS.
EDUCATION: THE ORGANIZATION HIRES ARTISTS TO WORK IN THE SCHOOLS TEACHING STUDENTS IN GRADES K-5 AND GIVE IN-SERVICE AND DIRECT CONTACT WORKSHOPS FOR EDUCATORS. ARTIST WORK WITH EDUCATORS ON INTEGRATING ARTS CURRICULUM WITH SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING AND MATH LESSONS. PROFESSIONAL ARTISTS AND EDUCATORS TEACH ARTS AFTER SCHOOL AT THE ARTS CENTER EVERY SCHOOL DAY. THE ARTS CENTER TRANSPORTS 2ND THROUGH 5TH GRADE STUDENTS INTERESTED IN PARTICIPATION. PROFESSIONAL ARTISTS ALSO TEACH SUMMER AND WEEKEND VISUAL ARTS, DRAMA, DANCE AND MUSIC CLASSES. ADULT CLASSES AND WORKSHOPS ARE HELD THROUGHOUT THE YEAR IN A VARIETY OF ARTISTIC DISCIPLINES. SPECIAL INTEREST GROUPS MEETING REGULARLY AT THE ARTS CENTER INCLUDE WOODCARVERS, PHOTOGRAPHERS, WRITERS, ACTORS AND PERFORMERS. STUDENT WORKSHOPS ACCOMPANY CLASSROOM TOURS IN THE GALLERY. HERITAGE FESTIVALS AND SPECIAL EVENTS SERVE TO EDUCATE THE PUBLIC ABOUT LOCAL AND REGIONAL CULTURE, TRADITIONS AND CULINARY ARTS.
