Organizations Filed Purposes: The Turtle Lake Hospital Association is responsible for building improvement and maintenance of the community hospital.

The Turtle Lake Hospital Association has an 8 member board that represents several communities in the Turtle Lake area. It was organized in 1947 for the sole purpose of building a hospital in the community. Construction was completed in 1952, with additions in 1963 and 1969. The hospital grounds, building, and clinic across the street is owned by the community. The board is financially responsible for maintenance and upkeep of the buildings and grounds. The hospital (A CriticalAccess Level V designated trauma facility with 24 beds and 24 hour emergency room capabilities)and clinic (NCHC) are leased by the current tenants. The 9 member board meet on a monthly basis to keep abreast of the hospital operation and needs, work with the maintenance staff, professionals, and hospital administration to keep the facility viable and safe. The next closest facility is 60 miles away which makes it vitally important to be able to serve the people of our area. It is imperative that the facility is saf

The Turtle Lake Hospital Association is responsible for maintaining the building and the grounds. Throughout the year the hospital encountered a variety of issues that needed to be updated or fixed. i.Ductwork-The air handler needed to be updated as well as the duct work.ii.Nursing Floor Double Doors- Life Safety Code was on site and we found out the double doors to the nurses station did not meet code. The doors needed to be replaced to bring up to life safety code.iii.Wander Guard - The wander guard was not working properly. Per Life Safety Code this needed to be replaced.iv.Phase 1 and 2 Surge Protectors- Surge protectors for the air conditioners needed to be replaced and moved. v.Generator Rental and Repairs - In October a power surge came through Turtle Lake causing issues to the generator. In order for the hospital to run smoothly they were required to rent a generator until the original could get up and running. We paid for half of the generator rental and generator repairs.vi.In February 2020 the hospital opened an RHC. The shower in the clinic bathroom needed to be replaced due to not working and leaking. vii.The sewer pipes in the building were 70 years old and in some places were leaking causing whatever department below to flood. The association paid for half to the replacement of sewer pipe to bring the building up to code.

Health Care Professional Student Loan Repayment Program-The State of North Dakota established a loan repayment program for healthcare professionals. This match is for those who work in areas of need. Amanda S, FNP applied for the loan repayment program and she was selected. In order to qualify she needed to receive a community match. Our rural hospital is very important to us and our community. We wanted to give back in a way that would keep Amanda in this area so we did not hesitate to match the State of North Dakota.

CHI St Alexius Health - Turtle Lakes 1994 handicapped van broke down in the fall of 2019. CHI had a mechanic look at making repairs and it would cost more than what it was worth. This put the hospital in a situation where they could not get some of their residents to and from appointments in Bismarck. CHI ST Alexius Health-Turtle Lake submitted a capital exception report to purchase a new van but they were only approved for $30,000. The DON approached the TLCHA on splitting the difference with the Hospital Auxiliary in hopes of purchasing a van that was mechanically sound to transport patients. The TLCHA board voted on splitting the difference with the hospital auxiliary. Upon completion, the new van, it is up to code, it is reliable, and has a variety of features which helps patients get in and out of the vehicle. This also ensures patients and staff will not be stranded on the side of the road and they will make it to appointments on time.
