The residential program provides individualized skill training in a caring and home-like environment. The philosophy is person-centered and based on respect for each individual's capabilities and civil rights. They are committed to promoting each person's competence and quality of life thereby supporting continued development in the most appropriate environment. Residential services include recreation, 24-hour nursing care, specialized therapies, and medical services. Families are an important part of the Eagle Valley Team, helping the professional staff assess their child's needs and establish goals for the future. They encourage families to visit often, participate in recreational events and outings, and take their loved ones home for special occasions and weekend visits.
The respite program addresses the long-term, repetitive stress felt by caregivers of developmentally disabled people who reside in the family home. We provide support to families or primary caregivers of people with developmental disabilities through temporary, short-term care of the dependent person in the family's home. Both planned and emergency respites are available to reduce stress and prevent unwanted placement outside the family home. Respite services for up to 30 hours per month are available to qualified families living in Nevada in Washoe, Carson, Lyon, Douglas, Churchill, and Storey counties. Respite services include: in-home care of disabled persons, sibling care, training for caregivers, information and referrals, and community outreach.
