The Fallon Food Hub is to educate our community about the benefits of eating seasonally and healthfully to create a thriving and expanding local food scene resulting in increased opportunities for area producers.
To provide information and education about specialty crops in our area to both farmers and consumers and provide access to those specialty crops.
30+ In person talks/classes/tours covering various crop growing, food preparation and local sustainable agriculture topics and tracked an increase in partner farm sales. Most of the presentations completed by volunteers and costs and revenues not tracked by service accomplishment
Email publications were provided covering crop histories, regional growing trends, crop storage and food preparation information. Publications were issued to over 150 participants weekly for 20 weeks. No direct costs allocated for creating publications or sending.
Assisted in hosting the Nevada Farms conference and Diary and Agriculture summit to assist in the education of local area farmers in developing local food systems. Costs and revenues not tracked by program; however labor was donated for these events.
