FAMILY SUPPORT AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT - This program is a safety net for families and provides case management and referrals to community members and offers educational programs. Services in this program include: Professional advocacy and case management; Government benefit application assistance (medical, CalFresh, LiHeap, CalWorks); Healthcare enrollment assistance (MediCal, MediCare & Covered California); Healthcare navigation (referrals); rental assistance; utility bill payment assitance for all Tahoe Donner Utility District customers; housing search & retention services; employment referrals; financial coaching; Social Security Administration help; and Tax prep with American Association of Retired Persons (AARP).
HUNGER RELIEF - This program collects, stores and redistributes food throughout the North Lake Tahoe/Truckee region in Nevada and California and promotes nutrition through education and awareness. Services within the Hunger Relief Program include: two weekly drive through food distributions; homeless outreach; Food and Companionship Exchange (FACE), our home food delivery program for individuals who cannot make it to our weekly food distributions; Lets Talk Turkey, our annual program that helps hundreds of local families have a happy, healthy Thanksgiving through offering a turkey and all fixings needed for a Thanksgiving dinner; and CalFresh Application Assistance, a program to help community members apply for CalFresh (formerly known as Food Stamps).
LEGAL SERVICES - This program provides free and reduced cost civil legal services and limited scope representation. Services in this program include expertise in: Family Law; Immigration Law; Landlord/tenant Law; Employment Law; Small Claims/Contract Matters; Civil Harassment Restraining Orders; Name Changes; Guardianship and Conservatorship; Know Your Rights and Be Prepared Education; and Understanding the workers compensation process.
