Organizations Filed Purposes:
To provide key resources and enhance skills for families in the Tahoe Basin.
Counseling Services: TFS is the only non-profit agency on the North shore that provides individual and family therapy on a sliding fee scale. Family counseling and psychiatric services are not withheld due to a lack of insurance coverage, and while Washoe County and other public facilities have a 3 to 6 month waiting period, there is no waiting list at TFS. We serve over 200 unduplicated clients annually. We provide case management and referrals. Individuals and families who need crisis intervention are all served by TFS. This service is instrumental in diverting potential violence and more costly interactions with law enforcement.
Camp Explore: TFS fulfills its mission of assisting families by offering a 6 week camp where kids can grow and build their minds. The camp allows for kids in the 1st through 5th grades to explore new activities they may not have had the opportunity to experience before. As the kids spend time at camp they engage with other kids their own age and are encouraged to voice their opinions and expand their thinking.
FRC Outreach: TFS is a licensed Nevada Family Resource Center. As such, they provide case management and referrals. Families experiencing difficulty due to economic circumstances, families who need parent education, and individuals who need crisis intervention are all served by TFS. This service is instrumental in diverting potential violence and more costly interactions with law enforcement.
