INSPIRED BY THE JEWISH PRINCIPLE OF "REPAIRING THE WORLD ONE LIFE AT A TIME" (TIKKUN OLAM), JEWISH FAMILY SERVICE AGENCY SUPPORTS PEOPLE OF ALL BACKGROUNDS PROVIDING PROFESSIONAL SOCIAL SERVICES TO FAMILIES AND INDIVIDUALS IN TIMES OF NEED.
JFSA PROVIDES COMPREHENSIVE SUPPORT SERVICES FOR VULNERABLE INDIVIDUALS 60 AND OLDER, HOLOCAUST SURVIVORS AND SENIOR VOLUNTEERS. CASE MANAGERS COORDINATE INTERNAL JFSA SERVICES AND COMMUNITY BASED SERVICES TO ASSIST SAFE, INDEPENDENT LIVING. SERVICES INCLUDE HOMEMAKING, PERSONAL CARE, COMPANIONSHIP, TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANCE, NUTRITIONAL SUPPORT, ASSISTANCE FOR MEDICAL, DENTAL AND PRESCRIPTION CO-PAYMENT AND LIMITED EMERGENCY FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE. THE DEPARTMENT SERVES 625 SENIORS WITH REGULAR ONGOING CASE MANAGEMENT SERVICES. THE DEPARTMENT CONNECTS OVER 150 ACTIVE, LOW-INCOME, SENIOR VOLUNTEERS WITH 100 VULNERABLE SENIORS TO SERVE AS COMPANIONS OR TO SERVE AS TUTORS/MENTORS TO 600 SPECIAL NEEDS YOUTH IN THE CLARK COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT.
JFSA PROVIDES FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE WHEN NO OTHER FAMILY OR COMMUNITY RESOURCES ARE AVAILABLE, SUFFICIENT OR APPROPRIATE. THE PROGRAM IS MEANT TO BE A ONE-TIME CRISIS INTERVENTION FOR HELP WITH BASIC NEEDS. EACH CLIENT IS EVALUATED INDIVIDUALLY MAINTAINING THE HIGHEST DEGREE OF CONFIDENTIALITY, RESPECT AND DISCRETION. IT IS UNDERSTOOD THAT EACH APPLICANT IS STRUGGLING PERSONALLY AND MAKING THE DIFFICULT DECISION TO REACH OUT FOR HELP. IT IS THE INTENTION OF THIS PROGRAM TO HELP EACH APPLICANT IN SOME WAY, WHETHER THROUGH DIRECT SERVICES OR APPROPRIATE REFERRAL TO OTHER ORGANIZATIONS OR INTRA-AGENCY SERVICES. IN ADDITION TO DIRECT FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE, JFSA OFFERS A FOOD PANTRY TO THOSE FACING FOOD INSECURITY. THE JFSA FOOD PANTRY SERVES FAMILIES, INDIVIDUALS, AND SENIORS WHO ARE FACING THE DEBILITATING CHALLENGES OF NOT BEING ABLE TO ACQUIRE SUFFICIENT FOOD FOR THEMSELVES OR THEIR FAMILIES. IN 2019 OUR EMERGENCY SERVICES DEPARTMENT SERVED 6,850 TOTAL INDIVIDUALS AND 2,540 HOUSEHOLDS.
OPEN ARMS ADOPTION AGENCY, A PROGRAM OF JEWISH FAMILY SERVICE AGENCY, IS A LICENSED CHILD PLACING AGENCY IN THE STATE OF NEVADA. WE ARE A NONSECTARIAN AND NON-JUDGMENTAL AGENCY, PROVIDING AN ARRAY OF ADOPTION SERVICES TO PROSPECTIVE ADOPTIVE FAMILIES AND BIRTH PARENTS. WE ARE LICENSED TO PROVIDE BIRTH PARENT ADOPTION COUNSELING AND SERVICES, ADOPTIVE FAMILY EDUCATION AND HOME STUDY ASSESSMENT, TEMPORARY INFANT BOARDING FOSTER CARE, ADOPTIVE PLACEMENTS AND POST PLACEMENT SERVICES IN ACCORDANCE WITH NRS 127 AND NAC 127. THE WARM AND COMPASSIONATE STAFF AT OPEN ARMS ADOPTION AGENCY UNDERSTANDS THAT EVERY FAMILY IS UNIQUE, AND WE ASSIST THE FAMILY IN A WAY THAT IS PERSONAL, RESPONSIVE, AND RESPECTFUL. WE PROVIDE BIRTH PARENT COUNSELING AND ASSIST BIRTH PARENTS IN DEVELOPING A BIRTH PLAN THAT MEETS THEIR INDIVIDUAL NEEDS AND DESIRES. IN 2019, OPEN ARMS ADOPTION AGENCY PLACED 27 CHILDREN FOR ADOPTION AND WORKED WITH 47 BIRTH PARENTS.
