We honor the importance of choice and control for those who are ill, so they may define for themselves the most comfortable and dignified manner in which to live. Hospice and palliative care services are provided in Clark County and Nye County to both insured & non-insured patients. Charity Care provided during 2019 = $626,000.
Nathan Adelson Hospice, Inc. (NAH) provides hospice services which consist of end-of-life care for our patients using an interdisciplinary team approach. HOSPICE AND PALLIATIVE CARE SERVICES: SINCE 1978, NATHAN ADELSON HOSPICE, INC. (NAH) HAS PROVIDED HOSPICE AND PALLIATIVE CARE SERVICES TO SOUTHERN NEVADA. IN 2019, NAH PROVIDED 146,319 DAYS OF COMPREHENSIVE HOSPICE SERVICES, INCLUDING PHYSICAL, EMOTIONAL, SOCIAL AND SPIRITUAL CARE, TO 4,601 PATIENTS AND THEIR LOVED ONES. NATHAN ADELSON HOSPICE, INC. PROVIDES A FULL CONTINUUM OF HOSPICE AND PALLIATIVE CARE, BOTH IN OUR TWO IN-PATIENT UNITS AND AT THE PATIENTS PLACE OF RESIDENCE, WHETHER THAT BE A PERSONAL RESIDENCE, GROUP HOME, ASSISTED LIVING FACILITY OR SKILLED NURSING FACILITY. OUR HOSPICE CARE IS PROVIDED BY A TEAM OF PHYSICIANS, NURSE PRACTITIONERS, REGISTERED NURSES, CERTIFIED HOSPICE AIDES, MEDICAL SOCIAL WORKERS, CHAPLAINS/CLERGY, COMPLEMENTARY THERAPIST AND TRAINED VOLUNTEERS. THIS TEAM, KNOWN AS THE IDG (INTER-DISCIPLINARY GROUP), MEETS WEEKLY TO IMPLEMENT AND MONITOR A SPECIFIC PLAN OF CARE DESIGNED TO MEET THE NEEDS OF THE PATIENT AND THEIR FAMILY. OUR PATIENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES ARE CARED FOR BY TWENTY SIX (26) FULL-TIME AND PART-TIME PHYSICIANS AND NURSE PRACTITIONERS, THREE HUNDRED THIRTY-EIGHT (338) CLINICAL AND ADMINISTRATIVE STAFF AND APPROXIMATELY THREE HUNDRED FOURTY-SIX (346) VOLUNTEERS. OUR CLINICIANS UTILIZE THE NETSMART ELECTRONIC MEDICAL RECORD SYSTEM TO DOCUMENT THE PATIENT'S CONDITION AND CARE. DOCUMENTATION IS DONE AT THE PATIENT'S BEDSIDE THROUGH THE UTILIZATION OF POINT OF SERVICE ELECTRONIC HARDWARE. AS ONE OF ONLY TWO HOSPICES IN SOUTHERN NEVADA ACCREDITED BY THE JOINT COMMISSION OF ACCREDITATION OF HEALTH CARE ORGANIZATIONS, NAH ASPIRES TO MAINTAIN A MODEL PROGRAM FOR OTHER HOSPICES AND HEALTHCARE ORGANIZATIONS IN OUR AREA. NAH WAS AWARDED A 2013 CIRCLE OF LIFE CITATION OF HONOR. THIS NATIONAL AWARD IS FROM THE AMERICAN HOSPITAL ASSOCIATION IN RECOGNITION OF OUR STRONG COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT, OUR WORK IN CONFRONTING ETHNIC/RACIAL CARE DISPARITIES, THE STRONG PARTNERSHIPS WE HAVE WITH LOCAL HOSPITALS, OUR OUTSTANDING COMPLEMENTARY THERAPY PROGRAM AND OUR CONTINUED COMMITMENT TO STAFF DEVELOPMENT. THERE ARE ONLY THREE AWARDS AND FIVE CITATIONS PRESENTED NATIONALLY. AS THE LARGEST NON-PROFIT HOSPICE PROVIDER IN SOUTHERN NEVADA, WE ARE PROUD TO CARE FOR THOSE IN OUR COMMUNITY WHO WOULD OTHERWISE NOT HAVE ACCESS TO HOSPICE SERVICES BECAUSE OF A LACK OF FINANCIAL RESOURCES. THROUGH THE GENEROSITY OF OUR SUPPORTERS, NAH WAS ABLE TO PROVIDE $626,000 OF UNCOMPENSATED CARE TO THE UNINSURED AND UNDERINSURED IN 2019. NATHAN ADELSON HOSPICE WAS THE ONLY COMPREHENSIVE PEDIATRIC HOSPICE IN SOUTHERN NEVADA, PROVIDING CARE IN THE INPATIENT UNIT AND IN RESIDENTIAL SETTINGS. THE PROGRAM STAFF INCLUDES A HOSPICE CERTIFIED PEDIATRIC MEDICAL DIRECTOR AND A CLINICAL TEAM WITH SPECIALIZED PEDIATRIC TRAINING. OUR PROGRAM CARED FOR SIX (6) PEDIATRIC PATIENTS IN 2019. THROUGH COOPERATIVE EFFORTS WITH OUR SISTER ORGANIZATION, THE CENTER FOR COMPASSIONATE CARE, NAH PROVIDES BEREAVEMENT AND GRIEF LOSS SUPPORT SERVICES TO GRIEVING FAMILY MEMBERS WHETHER OR NOT THE LOVED ONE RECEIVED HOSPICE SERVICES FROM OUR ORGANIZATION. FOR 29 YEARS, OUR BEREAVEMENT PROGRAM HAS HOSTED CAMP ERIN FOR CHILDREN, AGES 0-12. THE CAMP IS A NO COST WEEKEND EVENT THAT PROVIDES YOUTHS WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED THE DEATH OF A LOVED ONE THE OPPORTUNITY TO SHARE THEIR GRIEF EXPERIENCES WITH PEERS WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED A SIMILAR LOSS. IN ADDITION TO THE CORE HOSPICE SERVICES, NATHAN ADELSON HOSPICE PROVIDES MASSAGE THERAPY, REIKI, PET THERAPY, AROMATHERAPY, ART THERAPY AND MEMORY JOURNALS THOUGH THE BONNIE SCHRECK MEMORIAL COMPLEMENTARY THERAPIES PROGRAM. NATHAN ADELSON HOSPICE PROVIDES CAREGIVER SUPPORT THROUGH SUPPORT GROUPS AND MEAL DELIVERY PROGRAMS. THE ORGANIZATION, IN CONJUNCTION WITH SEVERAL LOCAL HOSPITALS, PROVIDES INPATIENT PALLIATIVE CONSULTATIONS TO NON-HOSPICE PATIENTS WITH LIFE THREATENING ILLNESSES. PAIN MANAGEMENT, NON-PAIN SYMPTOM MANAGEMENT, ADVANCE CARE PLANNING, SOCIAL SERVICES AND DISCHARGE PLANNING ARE SOME OF THE SERVICES PROVIDED IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE PALLIATIVE CONSULTATION. IN 2019, 7,427 PALLIATIVE CONSULTATIONS WERE PROVIDED IN HOSPITALS AND 343 PATIENTS RECEIVED PALLIATIVE CARE AT HOME. OVERALL, 3,931 PATIENTS RECEIVED PALLIATIVE CARE.
