Organizations Filed Purposes: THE MISSION OF THE UNLV FOUNDATION IS TO INCREASE PHILANTHROPIC SUPPORT OF UNLV AND GROW THE UNIVERSITY'S ENDOWMENT (MISSION CONTINUED IN SCHEDULE O).

PRIVATE PHILANTHROPIC FUNDS ENHANCE THE QUALITY OF THE UNIVERSITY AND STRENGTHEN ITS MISSION OF TEACHING, RESEARCH, AND PUBLIC SERVICE.

The UNLV Foundation was established in 1981 to raise and manage private donations that benefit UNLV and its colleges, schools, programs and students. In FY19, donors gave a total of $74.35 million in gifts and pledges, including twenty commitments of $1 million or more and representing an increase of nearly $15 million over FY18. These funds enhance the quality of the university and its missions of educating students, driving research and innovation, and strengthening community connections to stimulate community well-being and economic development. Rebel Athletics led the fundraising with $15.49 million in new cash and cash equivalents, new pledges and new estate commitments, including enough additional gifts to fund the Fertitta Football Complex. University Libraries accepted a pledge of $5 million to establish an endowment to enhance its Rare Books Collection and fund a curator for the Collection. In addition, the donor has made a commitment to give much of her personal rare book collection to the Libraries. The UNLV School of Medicine raised $5.22 million, including a planned gift of $3 million from a first-time donor to establish an additional endowed scholarship fund.

PROVIDE FUNDING FOR VARIOUS SCHOLARSHIPS TO STUDENTS ATTENDING THE UNIVERSITY OF NEVADA, LAS VEGAS. UNLV SETS THE CRITERIA FOR SCHOLARSHIPS AND DISBURSES ALL AWARDS TO STUDENTS.
