Organizations Filed Purposes:
TO FOSTER EDUCATIONAL EXCELLENCE AND STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT IN WASHOE COUNTY THROUGH LEADERSHIP, ADVOCACY, AND RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT.
EDUCATION ALLIANCE IS DEDICATED TO STRENGTHENING THE EDUCATION EXPERIENCE FOR WASHOE COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT STUDENTS, K-12, THROUGH THE CREATION AND MANAGEMENT OF BUSINESS AND COMMUNITY/SCHOOL PROGRAMS AND ALLIANCES.
PARTNERS IN EDUCATION PROGRAM ENGAGES BUSINESS AND THE COMMUNITY TO ESTABLISH SCHOOL PARTNERSHIPS AND ADVOCATE FOR RESOURCES WITH A GOAL OF AT LEAST ONE PARTNER PER SCHOOL WHO PROVIDES VOLUNTEER TIME AND EXPERTISE, FINANCIAL, AND/OR IN-KIND SUPPORT.TEACHERS' WAREHOUSE PROVIDES A WAY FOR PEOPLE IN THE COMMUNITY TO DONATE ITEMS TO A WAREHOUSE. THE TEACHERS CAN PICK UP ANY ITEMS THEY MAY NEED FOR THEIR CLASSROOM WITHOUT COST TO ENHANCE CLASSROOM LEARNING.
THE RUN FOR EDUCATION IS HOSTED BY THE EDUCATION ALLIANCE BOARD IN COLLABORATION WITH THE WASHOE COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT AND EDUCATORS, VOLUNTEERS, BUSINESS REPRESENTATIVES, COMMUNITY AND GOVERNMENT LEADERS. THIS ANNUAL EVENT RAISES FUNDING FOR OUR KIDS IN MOTION PROGRAM WITH 100% OF SPONSORSHIP DOLLARS DIRECTLY IMPACTING STUDENTS AND SCHOOLS THROUGH THE EDUCATION ALLIANCE AND FOCUSING ON PHYSICAL AND ACADEMIC FITNESS IN WASHOE COUNTY. LOCATED IN FRONT OF SCHEELS AT THE OUTLETS AT LEGENDS, PARTICIPATE IN THE TIMED 4K RACE, THE SPARKS MARINA MARCH, AN UNTIMED WALK/RUN AROUND THE MARINA, OR THE FUN RUN FOR LITTLE RUNNERS. IN ADDITION TO THE RUNNING EVENTS, THE FITNESS FAIR HAS ACTIVITY-THEMED STATIONS, SUCH AS BIKE RODEO, SOCCER, CLIMBING, GOLF, ARCHERY, GYMNASTICS, AND MORE. MORE THAN 8,500 ATTEND THE RUN, BRINGING TOGETHER FAMILIES, COMMUNITY, BUSINESS, AND EDUCATION FOR A DAY OF FUN, PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES.
WHEN SCHOOLS AND THE WORLD SHUTDOWN DUE TO THE PANDEMIC, EDUCATION ALLIANCE LAUNCHED A DISTANCE LEARNING LAPTOP DRIVE IN COLLABORATION WITH LOCAL BUSINESS PARTNERS TO COLLECT NEW AND GENTLY USED LAPTOP DONATIONS AND FINANCIAL DONATIONS TO HELP OUR HIGHEST-NEED STUDENTS WHO DO NOT HAVE ONE AT HOME FOR DISTANCE LEARNING. WE CONTINUED TO RAISE FUNDING AND ASK OUR RUN FOR EDUCATION SPONSORS AND DONORS TO CONSIDER REDIRECTING THEIR DONATIONS TOWARD THIS EFFORT AND HAVE SUCCEEDED IN DISTRIBUTING MORE THAN 2,000 LAPTOPS AND COMPUTERS TO STUDENTS IN NEED.
